Whats up ladies and gents? Im looking to start a new growroom.
It is 16x16 feet about 7 feet tall. i have a small one now but i want to go way bigger. I was thinking of using 4 600watt hps ( i was thinking 1k watts) but there could be hot spots in the garden, 2 large vent fans an AC, a dehumidifier, some Co2 and a few othe meters and stuff like that. What about energy costs? Is their a generator out that will turn on by its self?
What do you think i could get out of it. How many plants should i put in it, how tall? im going to use soil. Im looking to get about 10lbs. Let me know what would be the best. Im using Bubble Gum, AK-47, Maple Leaf Indica, cinderella99 x OG Kush, East Coast Sour D, Agent Orange. So....give me some input please.
Im not new at this but new in big rooms.

Thanks Every One.........

10lbs from 4 600 watt lights?
I doubt it.
You'll need more lights and more wattage to pull ten pounds.
You'll aslo need a good yielding strain.
16 x16x7... thats a big room for 4 lights.
Thats at least a six light 1k space.
As far as running on generator power, it can be done, but I would run a setup off a generator unless I had to, and also had capital for fuel.
You need a lot fore thought to go into this space... and if you haven't had muli light big room setups before now i'd a bit smaller until you really know what you're getting into.

i thought so.... the guy at the hydro store said 4 but i knew it would be more. what kind of power should i use and what is the cost?

Let me try to help you. Fist search for grow diaries that have a grow room with similar dimensions, and look through their thread, and get some ideas of what you want. Personally, ebb and flow tables seem to be the easiest when it comes to an operation this size. It's hard to help you if your not sure what your needs are. Go with 1000w lights, better penetration. Good luck, do some research, and we can help you out more. Not trying to knock you, large scale rooms are different then personal cabs.

the biggest i've done is an 8x10 room with 4, 1000 watt HPS. with about 8lbs. of harvest. About $1000 in electricity. We ran AC, carbon filter and multiple fans.

my suggestion is to price everything first have a blueprint of design, so you don't have to redesign during operations, and be SUPER stealth about it.

All the specifics about your garden i.e. plant size, grow method is all up to you. I would go with something you are comfortable and familiar with so you can get a good FIRST harvest then, experiement after you have recaptured your initial investment. Plus, you don't want to worry about the plants during your first BIG grow. There will plenty other things that you will have to worry about.

4 - 1Ks should be perfect for a room that size. Like others have mentioned, I would not run a large hydro setup if I did not have any experience with hydro. Try to stick with what you know, as adjusting to a larger size grow will be hard enough. I would just advise you to keep everything as simple as possible. I gradually inscreased my wattage from 150, 400, 1000, 2400W, etc. This way I was gradually introduced to all of the issues which come along with grows this size. After you have the room going and dialed in, you can introduce a small scale hydro setup alongside your soil plants, and compare results, make a decision from there as far as switching over the entire room to hydro. Try to keep it simple bro, good luck!
