When to move from Veg to Flower

My plants are 5 weeks since I put them in hydro (from seed). About 8" tall. They'd be taller but I was training them for 2 weeks. Very bushy now.

I'll wait at least another week since I just FIM'd them and need to complete the sexing of them.

I guess I had planned to veg them for 8 weeks before going 18/6. Does that sound reasonable?

8 weeks is more then enough time. I personally only veg for 30 days and yield 3oz+ per plant its all a matter of preference, variety and grow area. If you got room for monsters grow them.

Hey Moses. Thanks a lot for that. These were from seed, and I thought that meant they required more time to veg than if they were from clones.

Also, since I trained them, they are short, but bushy

Nice plants..It depends on how much light they have on them and the strain..

They will stretch much more in flower than in veg..I had some O.G. kush that would be 7 foot tall if i were to let them get that big before I flowered..If you have the lumens to penetrate to the lower canopy,then you are fine...If you dont and you are running an in efficient light with less lumens then you could have some issues with your lowers..In that case sacrifice your lowers and chop a few and leave most of the tops..The plant will put all its attention on your colas..

Thanks Blue. I have a 600W HPS for flowering. But am doing a SCROG so I'll be trimming the lower parts of the plant.

That's what you were meaning, right? Trim once in flowering?

Its probably time to throw them into 12/12 and see what you got. You're correct, seedlings take longer to veg than clones.

Hey Rrog. Your plants look very healthy and happy. Great job.

When you grow from seed, the plants must reach maturity before they will show sex. This usually takes about 8 weeks. You can switch to 12/12 but your plants will only stretch until they show sex.

I think that you are better off letting them continue to veg another couple of weeks and let them develop preflowers on their own.

How much vertical height do you have?

Water Farm, thanks for the props. I think I'll be keeping them in veg until 8 weeks. I'm not in a rush, and I'll have more bud sites in my scrog screen

Well, I moved to 12/12 HPS a week ago. 1 obvious male started showing me what he's got, so I pulled him. Doesn't this just suck to do?? Geez, what a beauty he was.

So I'm down to 4 plants in flower. I'll take the best 3 and continue on. Although maybe I'll keep all 4 in this particular hydro rig if all 4 are female...
