What's new

Seeds from 1972 what should I do?

from what i understand seeds only have a life shelf of 5-7 years, so anything after that you might be fucked, especially since they are over 30 years old. Keep on trying ill be amazed to see if any pop

I agree. I thought about opening up the seed, and trying to revive the embryo some how.

i remember moonshineman got some old beans to pop soaking them in superthrive...also fine, fine sandpaper the shells...also sometimes tweezers can help cracking them if they cant themselves

Still nothing. The shells are all very brittle and very easy to crack. I do not see any need what-so-ever to help the seed break in any way. I think they are just too old and dry and brittle.

while it is truly tragic that your father has passed away you have been given a way too let him live on... im glued too this until you undoubtedly have your beautiful seedling/s

Try putting say 20 ea. in a humidor for about 30 days for the slow moisture treatment until they look hydrated. Just a thought

Well, unfortunetly nothing has worked to date. I still have a bunch left, so I will give it a few more goes, and then thats it.

we need a cannabis museum here in the US.....we could put all kinds of stuff on display, starting with these seeds and the story behind them.

what would be a good city to put this museum into? hmmm.....

ahh what a bummer that none of these are germing! i saw this thread when it first started and was so stoked, i showed all my friends. realistically though, i guess we should've all known the chances were slim...hey, if you dont have any success (which i VERY MUCH hope you do) germing them, you should let me get a few :rasta: to continue efforts/have as a keepsake from 19-fuckin-72! :muahaha:

Not trying to throw a wet towel on your efforts but; viability is deminished after years of constant temp changes. You have gotten TOO much advice all with great intentions. Why wait any longer drop em all they aren't getting any younger!! This way no long wait to find out if... The longest ones I have heard of kept like yours is 8 years. Fridged ones 15+. Again good good good luck!!!! :joint:
