i have electric stove in my kitchen, can i put a pyrex glass bowl on it??? or is that not too smart? how long would it take for 91% iso to evaporate outside with no heat? thanks

You need very good ventilation. And it's no recomended tot do that inside.
The evaporation time is related to temperature, but I think will take too much time. And it can get dust and other impurities from the air.

I've done it close to 25 times atleast(with 70-91% iso,) and remember when a kid we would pour rubbing alcohol into bowls and light it on fire(FIRE FIRE FIRE--I AM CORNHOLIO!)...but I can't reccomend being as reckless as I am. I can, however, reccomend not going over 5 on the stove and not smoking, playing with sparklers, fire eating, etc.--IF you do decide(after listening to the others who'll chime in with their experiences) to be as reckless as me that is :)

Without heat it is going to depend a lot on how much you use, a small amount can evap overnight(with the help of a fan.) A large amount will take lots longer, you're better doing a double boiler setup if you are worried about blowing up.

the biggest risk would be if it splashed or spilled onto the element inside. its always best to do it outside. alcohol isnt going to be as explosive as butane, mostly because it evaporates so slowly that it would be hard for a large amount of vapor to accumulate. I bought a single burner electric stove thing at walmart for about $20, its about as big as a phone book. well worth it to do all this stuff outside.

I have used a electric element but it was portable so I would use an extension cord and do this outside and boil off the iso, it can be done as quickly as 20 mins if you just hold the pyrex dish over the element ( I don't recomend this as it can be quite easy to get a mouthful of Iso as well as iso in your eyes) or you can put it on a water bath and let the water simer and wait for it to evaporate. I would recomend using eye goggles and to be aware of where the wind is blowing as a lungful of iso definatly was not very pleasent to say the least. Just my opinion.

just use a heating pad and put it in a room with a open window and a fan blowing out takes about a day or so it may not seem like anything is happening but just be patient

well i did two wash on about 24 grams of trim and it turn out greenish. don't really know what to expect there. it probably won't be good. i tried some guys method just putting the trim in a coffee filter and pouring the iso on it. no shaking, should i shake next time?

whats the best way to get a good iso wash with trim? i actually have a hermie plant i wan to use too

Only time I can remember getting green iso oil was when I powdered(coffee grinder) my trim, I leave it whole now, always.
Dunno if that helps you, are you using fan leaves too?

And I don't want to argue, but I dunno what kind of baking dish I use, but if it's pyrex it doesn't explode on the electric stove. I have seen glass plates explode when I put homemade stir fry on them, right from the stove, but not my 9x9 baking dish which isn't put on a red hot burner, is put on a cold one then the heat is turned on 5 and gradually lowered(usally between 2-3) once it starts bubbling.

if it was green than shaking will just make it worse! If u use just 2 unbleached coffee filters filled up without packing and just pour the iso through u should end up with a golden tinge iso....Dont squeeze and I usually just pour as much Iso as I can through before it starts to pool too much...a 2 liter bottle cut just right is perfect for this type of extraction...and u can even do it with vaporized remains and get a smokeable darker oil

yeah i should have used two coffee filters, next time i will. i cut a 2 liter botttle so i could tape the filter in, then i put my trim in and just poured iso over it twice and made two batches. the second one was really green but i guess it may have turned out okay. the first batch is super blonde so i know its good....(or think so anyway) my 100x magnifier thinks so

dbuzz I just use a normal oscilating fan to evap my iso. it takes about 4 or 5 hours on a cool day so its just a bit of patience needed but much safer

yes u can use a electric stove BUT you must use double boiler action NEVER DIRECT
you can have alot of problems, also you want all windows and doors open and exhaust fan going.
someone else said they use a fan true u can, pretty safe, but takes forever
Master Thai found another way thats quick use your vapor heat gun.
I set my gun on a setting that i can hold about 2 " away from my skin without getting
uncomfortable (hot)
takes about 20-30 min can use the gun from underneath bowl and heat/reduce that way or above blowing down on product.
peace

yeah i've just been leaving it in my spare bedroom overnight with a fan and let it dry out completely. i dont really want to mess with the real sticky oily substance. i have 2 batches right now that are dry, can i put it directly on an electric stove to heat it a bit so that it will stick and ball up easiier....cause its like shards now

coffee is full of oils(from what I've been told), so if there WAS something left there would be oils to solute into, now if you'll excuse me, I have a pyrex dish I need to cook on the electric stove....HEHEHEHAHAHAHHOHOHOHOHO!

just did mine on a little ceramic plate on top of an electric range (stove top is just flat all the way across, electric) and it worked fine.

I do pretty big batches i usually us 2-3 5 gals and i filter with coffe filters as well. When i cook it i use 3-4 crock pots or slow cookers whatever the hell their called.Ive had a few experiences with splashing iso on the stove element before and it is not fun. With the crock pots theres no woirries just put em in a ventillated place or preferably outside if its not too cold and not a heat score.

haha, forgot all about this thread. if you want good iso, don't use trim, don't shake only stir, and never moar than 20 seconds. i used my electric stove several times, with a double boiler setup. reeks up your kitchen pretty bad so i just put it in a room with fan and close the door. i like the shard you get from purging at room temperature.
