Are ants bad?

I think my soil has been infested with an ants nest.

I watered today, first time in 2 days and a whole shit load of ants came running out of the soil carrying eggs and running for their lives.

Is it bad to have an ant infestation, other than ants everywhere? Its not like they eat the plant or anything

I don't know if you are all organic or not... or how long you are in flower...if not at all....but you should bomb the shit outa them with perithium.

They are there eating something;...they're not eating mylar...that's for sure.
For the moment I do this stuff for a livin'. There's some orgaic lines we use but they suck and just don't cut it. Good luck bra'.

Many ants farm aphids; so if you have a huge ant colony, chances are good there is or will be an aphid colony to follow.

Ants love to eat the secretion from the aphids so much that they will actually bring aphids into their nests and keep them alive there where they will stimulate the stomachs of the aphids to cause the secretion.

So I can absolutely guarantee if you have ants, there are ahpids nearby. It is just a matter of time before you plants get infected. I would try ladybugs for the aphids for a very simple fix.

I read it and was like that sounds awesome ...must be in some exotic country; like africa or something, lol.

I looked that shit up (even saw macro photos of this crazy phenomenon). Super interesting.

Still, chems are pretty accessible. If it were me, I would eliminate the problem quick n' easy. It doesn't really have any adverse effects on plants within right concentrations (still don't do this while in the middle of flowering). But at least now you have a couple options meow.

You can buy ladybugs at any pet store like Petco. Lots of plant stores cary them as well. I buy 1500 ladybugs for $10 and keep them in the refrigerator and release 300 at a time.

Be sure to use them all within 2 weeks. They clean up aphids better than anything else you can use. I prefer them to Neem Oil but it can be used as well if no ladybugs are accessible.

Yep everytime I see more than 1 or 2 ants in with the plants I start looking for aphids. I had a huge ant/aphid problem a couple years ago before I knew ants would actually bring the aphids to a food source to farm them.

Just be very careful of what u use to combat them. Do not use anything oil based, make sure to read all the ingredients. I like the predator bugs. The guys at the grow shop will steer you right. The aphids will be there so don't waste any time in picking a fight. Get it done today!

If I was dipped in trichs like those ants, I'd probably die too! Of exposure from not wanting to move LOL.

It must be a stunning achievement for the plant to knock off so many of them. LOL
