How to make bubble rolls aka mendo cigars?

Ive seen the thread on the laminator, and read an article here and there about mendo cigars.

The process seems simple enough, but are there any specific considerations to make sure it burns properly, stays lit, doesnt crumble, etc?

Recently while hand pressing a small ball of bubble to smoke, I started flattening it out into a pancake, eventually making a little bubble rollie. I put a little weed in and rolled it up, but when i tried to burn it, it sizzled and the whole thing would flame. When it was blown out, it would go out and be crumbly.

Whats the trick to mendo cigars and laminator spliffs?

i thought it was the oil content/ consistency of the hash going into it, but ive never personally made one or smoked one or even seen one... i have had laminator hash experiences though.

i regularly make hashjoints - thats real hashjoints with no weed just ice hash . It wont work with the better goey hashes as they will simply flame on or melt like you allready experienced . I use the drier harder hash either from outdoor trim or indoor after its on its 3rd or 4th run when the contaminent levels are higher and the hash is not as resinous or powerfull but still good for smoking . Also this method only works with freshly made hash . After pressing fresh hash as ussual use a pasta rolling machine as found in every proper housewifes arsenal and starting with the largest setting roll the hash thru several times gradually decreasing the size untill its on the thinnest setting . you should be able to get a large sheet of almost paper thin hash thats still maleable but not gooey . Then simply roll it around a chopstick or similarly tapered cylindrical tool , press the edge firmly together to make an airtight seal , and set out to dry . once dry you will have an empty conical tube of pure hash goodiness. simply light the end and let it burn for aprox. 15 secs then blow it out and inhale from the smallest end . you will be amazed how welll this works . Its allways a real showstopper at parties when some dude asks if i wanna smoke a hashjoint and pulls out a normal weed reefer with hash in it . Ill say "thats not a hashjoint " and pull out one of my hashcones "now thats a hashjoint!"

your comments make me feel like i need to get back out into the party scene false.. that's quite the party accessory.

yeah if you watch hashbeans vid you see him use mostly 160/120/dry sift for his hash paper - he adds a little 73 toward the end i believe. so its midgrade or so qual level

yeah my friend makes em here localy and does them PERFECT.
He uses a dry sift bubble combo, the dry sift keeping it together enough to smoke thru, and the bubble giving it its potency>
i just smoked a nice one the other night at the burning spear concert. Always a great party favor, right up until some asshole tries to fix the cherry and knocks it off.
DO NOT FIX CHERRIES ON HASHJOINTS>

my two cents

Excellent. Thanks for all the help. I watched the hashbean video while playing around with the hash. I wound up smoking one a few nights back, and i was laid out, CEV's and all.

As mentioned, I added a little of the lower quality bubble from the later runs and that made it firm up, while still being workable.

It was such an enjoyable experience that I will be picking up a laminator very soon!

exellent thread I tried it once except I tried to roll it with bud in it and just ended up with a ball of hash that had a bunch of weed in it!

low quality hash

low quality hash

I generally use my 120-160 micron to make these hash papers... then i run it through a laminator 3 times, each time increasing the heat. If needed i will roll out the piece a bit more by hand. I save the hash paper until it is ready to roll... then just put it in the microwave for about 10 seconds to make it pliable, then roll gently and fill with OG Kush or Sour Diesel or U2 :rasta:

I have a batch of bubblegum hash drying that i will roll intoa mendo cigar a take pics of... and I'll do my best to try false's method...

False- how many grams do you put into your hash cigs?... Do you heat your hash or roll it out raw?

It makes more sense because rolling the hash thin and sealing the cig while it is wet will prevent breakage at the seam with my method, and it will make intake of the smoke much more bearable. When I smoke em by myself they burn fine, but just like bubbleman said, in a group, people generally fall prey to habit and try to ash the cherry, which messes up the structure most of the time.

And if you dont fill it with herb, then the hit is too strong and you end up wasting too much time(time=hash in this case) coughing to make the blunt worth your while. So maybe ill try it with a bamboo skewer and then pop it in the freezer and see what happens...

Here is how i do it....

Here is how i do it....

First of all I want to thank false, as I combined his method and my method. As i said before, I stuff my blunts with herb; well no more, i am liking the cigarette much more because it uses 1/3 less hash and burns just as long, so now i can enjoy 3 cigs... it will last me all day ... hehe... so here goes. Enjoy.

Here is some 90-160 micron hash

I ground it up in my good old coffee grinder...

Now comes the make it or break it part:the packaging. The surface of the cellophane must be smooth and this or it will get stuck in your laminator and ruin your precious hash...

just to show you the size im working with...

Here is the laminator I use. I put the hash through the laminator 3 times, and depending on the purity of the hash, different temperatures can be used. If I was processing some melty 45 micron for personal smoke, I would use the setting of 4.... But for this hash paper with a higher level of contaminate, I use 6 for the first run through, 8 for the second, and 10 for the 3rd run, and i roll the hash out with a rolling pin after each run, with vigorous intent... Remember... the more you work the hash, the better your hash blunt will be....

Now cut the enge of the tape.... This step reminds me of peeling a fruit roll up off of its wrapper. Its still warm and will stay ttogether as one piece when handled with ease...

I give credit to false for this next step; although he uses fresh hash and shapes it in a different way, using moisure to keep the cig together, and then drying it out..., this method uses heat instead, and is ready to smoke directly rolling. Thanks false, you have saved me lots of smoke man!

No More Swishers for Me!

Different sizes for different times of day

Light it like incese and wait for it to cherry....

then smoke and enjoy. If you suck hard on the cig the ash will go in your mouth, but if you hit it delicately, its more than enough fora huge hit and the ash stays at the end of the cig...i tapped the ash off as well with no issues... lol...

false, how long is the longest you have save one of your hashjoints? does it stay shaped for a long time... Because you are right, i am degrading my thrichs my heating them, and it seems with your method, even though you press it while slightly moist, you rollit so thin that the water cannot stay in it... My other question is this? Hash is always smoother when cured for around 6 months to a year.... and with a hash joint your gonna b coughing for sure, so a 6 month cure is probably the best thing you could do to one of these hash joints to make it smoother right? Well if that is the case, then i am gonna have to try your method, as i am sure heating it will make my joints less potent than yours 6 months down the line...

I have kept these h joints for up to a year , if well sealed they can last , but with any product they will decay when exposed to oxeygen and light .Im not convinced curing does much to the hash at this point . Also when smoking these although they may not be the finest of creamy blonde sweetness , but they are quite smokable and not harsh in the least . shape and stucure stays fine and , when the hash is shaped wet it will dry hard and firm in almost any shape .

i finally did it!! and damn they are bomb as fuck! i have a different way to do it then hash man. no pics so il try to explain as good as i can. first i use bubble hash let it dry all they way then press it i use a vice that i bought at home depot for $22 once its pressed i roll it into a ball then into a long weanie the length of my palm and a lil smaller width then a swisher sweet then i start squeazing with my thumbs until its flat and thin as i could get it it should be th size of a open pack of white zags and thin but not so thin that it tears so now i let it cool and harden back up becuz its soft from body heat now after 2-3 min. its hard enuff now i take a knife asqaure and then i roll it around a pencil loosley just to get the basic shape i then overlap by 1/8inch or less and with the pencil still in i press the top flap into the bottom until its sealed, pull out the pencil and light her up. once get a camera il post pics.
