dumb question about autoflowering strains.

I never had an AF strain to work with.
My question is VERY simple, but I pretend convincing answers, possibly with argumentations & related links to articles or whatever.

Can I clone an AF strain? If not, why? If yes, how?

(I mean, I don't care how big will be the buds, I don't care how much will I yield, but I do care about 'any method' to keep that kind of plants alive, without producing seeds)

Thank you in advice, and sorry again for my badass english.

funny question indeed :D

theoretically you probably know the answer, so why ask a dumb question?
practically you can try to clone it and you will see the correct answer

Of course you can clone an af variety but you cant reveg it once its started flowering, with AF's even if you left the lights on 24/7 its in thier genes the best thing to do is use a good male and female and make seeds, I doubt there will be a long discusion about this topic most people dont really like AF's because of thier general low yield and potency, personally with other varieties like mothers finest, nebula, lui, etc available I wouldnt waste my time or money with AF's :joint:

yeah I just feel the pricing for the AF's is a bit much, but people will always try and make money where they can :joint:

There was an experiment conducted in which a person managed to get an original LowRyder to veg.

He was growing the plant in hydro, and kept his resevoir extremely cold, on the edge of being too cold for the plant, this seemed to be the factor that kept the plant from flowering, because no other anonalies were found in his grow.

He took clones, but I believe the clones themselves grew very little before succumbing to the autoflower trait themselves.

No you cannot clone a true af plant. I have heard some say you can give it a retarded light cycle to confuse it but i have not seen one picture of that method. An af plant flowers off of age as opposed to 12/12 strains. Look in the mdanzig forums here on IC. I have multiple threads in there. OH yeah if anyone here says you can clone an af prove it by taking a picture and prove to me that you can veg it.

If you want to reproduce your AFs it's best to make a seed backup from your genetics. If the strain is not guaranteed 100% autoflowering, make damn sure the individuals you use are actually AFs and not the dominant photoperiod triggered ones.

This is the only way to keep the afs in your garden without buying seeds.

no all you have to do is keep the lights on at least 18/6 then observe the plants generally it will take 4-6 weeks for the plants to start auto flowering and then its simple choose the male and female that you like and use them to pollenate and make some seeds the thing is because you cant reveg it you have to make the right choice in parents from the beggining slightly squeez the stem to get more or less the idea of how it will smell look at plant structure and most important smoke a little of the respective parents to try and find the most potent ones, when it comes to the male alot of people try and collect the pollen personally iv never had great results storing pollen getting rid of all the moisture is difficult what I normally do with all my males is to starve them cut off all nutrients and feed the give them as little water as possible then you have to pull off the ripening pollen sacks you have to check the plant on a daily basis, when the female has grown enough pistols just start looking after the male by feedind and watering it properly and it will recover within a week and make nice fresh pollen for your female, by making a plant hermie you dont know what the end results will be thats why that part is best left to breeders or people with alot of experience, personally I wouldnt go near creating feminised seeds because of the fact that you dont know what the end result will be and I cant afford to waste the time growing a couple hundred hermies by accident :joint:

Hope this helps
