so i'm obviously familiar with growing under 18/24 and 24/24 or anything in between for Veg.

anyways i always have used 24/24 light for quicker growth, but my question is every once in a while around every few days sometimes longer i like to shut the lights off for a few hours 2-3 Max.

give the chance for the lights to cool down save energy ect..

my only question is... Is it somehow possible if this is NOT DONE AT THE SAME TIME OF DAY EVERYDAY... CAN THEY HERMIE?

I've pretty much always shut the lights off here and there with usually a great success but i hae had a few hermie plants in my day and i was wondering if this could possible be a trigger.. keep in mind its rare and only a couple hours off..

any comments, theories or ideas welcome .. just want to hear everyones thought

2-3 times per grow is OK. 2-3 times a week at irregular intervals is bad juju. Plants aren't very bright. The only message they get from that is the Sun has broken and they need to flower ASAP.

I find plants grow much faster with an 8 hour night.

I'm no botanist. I can't give a blow by blow description. Certain processes happen, or happen better, in the night. Lack of night slows or stops those processes. Obviously, some changes to it's natural habitat can improve growth. There's no DWC in the wild. But the plant has adapted to a dark/light cycle for tens of thousands of years. Just as it uses dark to start flowering, it uses dark to start night processes.
