PERLITE ON DRIED BUDS NIGHTMARE!

Well today turned out to be 1 fuked up day....basically last week i harvested some more mandala 1 (south african sativa pheno)....let it dry enough to smoke a pure...and when im smoking it its popping and sizzling...i look closer and it looks like tiny particles of perlite are on the buds ...freaked me fukin out! i assume that the fans in the room have somehow blown some perlite out of the pots into the air which has landed on the plant while flowering must be when i allow the soil to dry out a bit between waterings this is fuked up shit...was wonderin if its happened to any 1 else..mad to think we all go out of our way to grow our own so we know its clean and end up with buds with particles of perlite will have to get rid of these buds as unsmokeable now..cant be safe smokin perlite..so to the fukin bin

Thanks for the advice babba.. but ive only got a screen for dry siftin so dont think that ll work..thought about rinsing the buds to try to seperate the perlite from the bud as thc obviously isnt disolvable in water but could be a pain and cant be sure all perlite dust is removed...and i thought it was bad when i used to smoke tobacco!...it seems ive accidentally stepped it up to perlite smokin now!

yep perlite and my lungs aint thanked me... this has never happened before ...its gonna be a layer of soil without perlite on top of my normal mix from now on..fuked up situation this

I use very large chunky perlite. Cheesecloth or an old pillowcase or t-shirt would allow you to make a one grade ice hash that would be much better the smoking tainted buds.

BUTTER!

cookies are the way to go after you have made the butter, you can dilute it 50/50 with regular butter and make twice the cookies. if it's good stuff (assuming it it since we're talking buds) one cookie will be more than enough to have you stuck for a couple hours

I had some buds hanging around with a few hung over the laundry tub. When I was about to jar them I noticed all this furry gray shit on them. My first thoughts were mold. I took out the magnifier checking it out & removing what I could. Luckily it was only a couple of buds. I mentioned to the GF about the mold & she told me a few buds had fallen in the sink while the laundry was doing its thing. So I was picking out dry lint from my buds not mold.

oil with ISO? would be simple, cheap, and I'm pretty sure perlite doesn't dissolve in ISO.

lol, I went and made a long assed post before I got this far in the thread bro, I was saying the same thing. In fact that top soil will dry first and most often so there won't ever be an root rot issues, simple solutions are best.......

Worm castings would make that top soil rich and airy as well soapbar.

Perlite floats. Just do a water cure and skim off the top.

inever had this happen before so im not speaking from experience,i realize perlite is very light so why not just get a vacume cleaner extention and try to vacume it off,if your buds are large enough i wouldnt try it with the small ones. hey you might lose a little but alot qicker than a watercure and i herd that youll lose alot of the smell and taste.i just got a idea put a screen in front of the extention. good luck

This will be my first post on the IC...So hello everyone!!

Although i never recognized perlite on my nugs, i don`t use perlite anymore, since i`ve heard Geoge Cervantes saying on his grow dvd, that breathing perlite dust can be dangerous for your health. Never heard any warnings before, but i checked the net and read, that one should always wear a dust mask while handling with perlite. you may call me paranoid, but glass dust, next to something i want to but in my lungs doesn`t sound save to me at all!
It wasn`t easy to find a good soil mix without perlite, but finally i found the BioCanna plus and i`m very satisfied with it!
"Deathtosoapbar", i don`t know if it`s possible to remove all the dust from your buds, so pesonally i would`nt smoke them anymore. Just my two cents...

A diatomite topping might be a good idea in place of your pearlite.

they look like smooth gravel and are about the same size but very light. Drop a stone in the water and sometimes it screams a little bit as it's absorbing water. Once saturated they don't float and retain a tonne of water.

Man, don't worry yourself. You're going to be just fine. You can smoke that bud no problem. Wouldn't recommend smoking a 10 pounds of it in day or anything. That's wasteful anyways. It's not harmful is swallowed and the only real danger is the dust particles getting into the lungs. So don't be smelling them nugs too hard for too long.
