THIEVES ATTEMPTING TO STEAL POT POSED AS POLICE OFFICERS

OROVILLE -- The Butte County Sheriff's Office warns that five recent attempts to steal pot from medical marijuana growers have included two incidents with shots fired and two in which thieves posed as law enforcement.

In the latter incidents people possibly wearing some type of uniform and identifying themselves as being from either the Sheriff's Office or the Drug Enforcement Administration were allegedly involved.

In both instances, marijuana was reportedly taken.

The Sheriff's Office has arrested suspects in two of the five incidents. Chico police have arrested one suspect who allegedly fired a pistol at a grower in an attempt to steal pot plants from his yard.

Officials said anyone contacting the public about marijuana grows will have proper law enforcement identification, such as badges, and wear uniforms with patches identifying their agency.

If the property is being searched, a warrant will be presented, and people being contacted or detained will be interviewed.

"Law enforcement is very concerned about individuals that are carrying out these acts and the potential mistrust that citizens may have when confronted by real law enforcement officers serving search warrants," the Sheriff's Office stated in a press release.

The Butte County's Felony Investigation Unit has been vigorously investigating the two cases.

It is sad that these people doing this. why not just go get a med card and grow your own or find a care giver to grow for u.

have noticed recently law enforcement seems to be on the side of the grower and willing to help in catching the rippers.

I knew some one, who knew someone who tried this. He showed up at a deal dressed like a cop. He had a gun and told every one to get on the ground. One of the guys said I am not getting on the ground, and that guy turned out to be an undercover cop. Every one got to go to jail.

I was just thinking that if the Government made Marijuana legal for recreational use like Alcohol, that it would help the economy. This would help lower some crime that might have went along with the drug and would free up more time for DEA to go after real drug dealers/users ( Cocaine, Heroin, Ecstasy, and Meth.) They have marijuana illegal for some weird reason and I still can't figure out what they are scared of. All that BS they always say about Marijuana is a bunch of lies. More then half of the people have smoked some type of skunk genetic or some other high grade weed and you guys are not dead or killing people after you smoke it. If it were true, then weed would be worst then crack , which is not the case. The Gov of America won't make it legal because we the people can grow it ourselves with help from them. THem meaning companies and the Government. Selfish Bastards know they smoke weed all day long and don't want to share. But I know that won't stop you guys from growing on .... POWER TO THE PEOPLE !!

lets not forget, the gov made the organization of ATF, legal: Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.

maybe one day, the ATF will change its name to the AMTF. If people dont pay their cannabis tax, the AMTF will run into our houses and kill our children, similar to Waco, TX.
