What's new

drought resistent, no maintenance STRAIN

I live in 42° north, in summer, is very hot and dry,

This year, i' have tried the Maroc, from female seeds.

I never brought them water and.......

in the end of August, when i came back in my "Grow Zone", i found very healthy plant's, ready for the harvester

THIS STRAIN IS THE MOST DROUGHT RESISTENT AND THE FASTEST I HAVE EVER SEEN

I'd like to find the strain for the next year to grow with MAROC

DO YU KNOW STRAIN WHIT SIMILAR DROUGHT RESISTANT ????????

DO YU KNOW STRAIN THAT CAN SURVIVE WHIT NO IRRIGATION IN MY CLIMATE ????????

P.S. excuse-me for my bad english

I'd say look for a african or mexican sativa in general. The less "worked" the better

How many inches of rain do y'all get during the season? ( average; from spring till harvest)

x Ganico:
i plant the seeds in the end of may,

may 65 mm (i think she dosen't drink this rain)
june 30 mm
July 10 mm
August 45 mm

x silverback

i prefer sativa high in the day! and indica in the night!

I am looking for 1 good sativa and indica like you... almost same early finishing time... mold resistant and hopefully low in oder... I live a 35 N and summers are fucking awful here... add choppers, rippers, animals, and god knows what.. and it makes growing outdoors a pain in the ass... but definetly the most rewarding way to grow. i don't care about feminized..

Hey GG.

Ive spent a lot of time looking into this matter. I have found that generally, tall, skinny plants perform the best in dry weather.

1. The moisture loss in most soils is in the top 12-24". Sub soils usually will retain moisture between rains. Taller strains usually have a bit deeper tap root than small or medium strains. THe smaller strains entire root ball is in the area of the soil most effected by low moisture. Tall plants =deeper roots generally.

2. Skinny plants with LOW Yields. Big Yielders require big moisture. Its much easier for a plant to keep lower levels of vegetaion alive, especially if it has deeper roots. DON'T TOP! More vegetation = more water.

Whether you go for sativa or indica = Tall lanky low yielders will be your best bet in my view. I havent grown the Maroc, but I bet its tall and skinny.

3. Make sure it is an OUTDOOr strain. There arent any indoor only strains that will fit your needs.

Just me talking.

silverback,

I'm not a GURU but i think the strain with more mold resistence, have less drought resistence. becouse they come form land where rain very very much linke equator sativa.

for example, the maorc is poor in mold resistence but very drought resistence

what is the strain more drought resistent have you never tried??????

KC33. This strain is the most drought resistant I know. It has a deep tap root. Most plants wilt when they don't get enough moisture and continue to wilt until death if not watered. KC33 wilts initially, but then seems to go into a dormancy and it just sits there in a semi wilted state for up to several weeks. Very good drought resistance.

silverback.

which strains have yu tested outdoor in drought conditions????

i' ve tested:

drought resistence from 1 to 10
blackwidow mr. nice (7.5)
northernlights Highqualutyseeds (5)
blueberry dutch passion (3.5)
maroc female seeds (9)

can yu write a list of your strains????

Gosh GG, I been growing outdoors for many years and I grow 8-10 strains per year since about 2000. Ive grown so many store bought strains. I have paid attention to every one of them for drought resistance. Some plants cant stand even low moisture. I grew out Mikado last year and it was terrible. The least little dry spell and it wanted to die.

Gererally, plants with a strong Afghani component do well. Afghanistan can be arid and its my view that these strains recact with less harm. Great White shark, KC 33, Skunk afghan crosses such as Hollands hope I think fair well in drought.

Just my 2 cents

im currently trying to breed with the same idea in mind, but i don't know where to start. down here in my part of cali we see NO rain outdoors

im looking at ketama from world of seeds...

its a moroccan landrace, supposedly very drought resistant

im looking for an african/mediterranean sativa to cross it with

Biddy Early has proven to be extremely drought resistant and moderately mold resistant. I find that the initial health of the plant plays a big role in both of these things. If the plant was extremely healthy to begin with than it can take drought much better.

Guerilla's Gusto from Sensi Seeds is the only other candidate that can compare to moroc. Ive looked for years and there just aint many and as a femmed seed lover myself, you can forget that with requards to the criteria you've set out. Very few companies produce fem seeds that are tough OD material, its just not where the industry is at.

There could be a couple more strains somewhere that I don't know about but the key word is "couple". That's a tall order SH for a retail seed business focused on potency and famous indoor strains,

Sensi's Guerilla Gusto.
