Cloning with Rooting hormone...Problems?

I've been having problems getting clones to root lately. I use both botanical aero cloner and rockwool cubes, and have found the stems start getting slimy after 2-3 days and most eventually never make it as a clone. I've tried everything I could think of including completely disinfecting my aero cloner etc etc. So then I changed from powder rooting homone "(Rootone") to a gel GroTech. No change. So a week ago, I took about 20 cuttings, and using rockwool cubes, I separated and them into two groups. Half of them used the gel and the other half just straight tap water.
Result, after one week: 90% of the one with gel are dead, and the other 10% is on the way out. The ones using just straight tap water are all HEALTHY.

Anyone care to comment? The 2 oz of gel cost me $14!

Funny, my cloning is just the opposite. No rockwool and gel = 100% slimey death. My success rate with powders was 00.00%

It's all Voodoo. What works for some kills all for others. My "secret" ingrediant is soaking each stem in Hormex (B1 and IBA) for one minute before gel and cube. Took my success rate from 45% to 100%



My only questions would be: tub water/air temps, using a dome? 75º is optimum. I say Domes are deadly but, many disagree.

If you can't find it, I'm sure any B1+IBA formula would do (Indo Bu...something ... Acid)

i have great luck with tap water, rockwool cubes, and plain old rooting powder from the garden store. perhaps its not in the products you use but in your technique.

Rooting powder caused me much anguish. Hormex + Vermiculite is my technique, like FreezerBoy said, you just gotta find what works for you.

some just simply use honey, its antiseptic and contains some nutrients i guess
at least it supposed to work for some talking about it, i never tried it yet.

Some pop them in glass of plain water for 2 weeks and they root amazing lol.

how the plant developed further?

Are you using tap, ro, bubbled h20? I find my clones root faster and bigger using tap phd to 6.0, then rechecked next day and adjusted back to 6.0 and have the cloner sitting on cold concrete basement floor. I just beat my record of 6 days from cutting to up potting in solo cups. I use a dipping gel, forgot the name, and plain tap.

I use tap 383ppm shitty city water...couldn't be easier....yeehaw..no ph adjusting or anything..

I have never noticed a difference but I would have to do a side by side and see to really know...from what I can tell without hormone just sets them back about 5 days from the ones with rooting agents....yeehaw

well good to know that once you have time to waist you can easily
propagate them with simmmmplynothingwhatsoever

You can use nothing but water in your cloner or you can Aloevera cut off a piece and stick the clone in that juice that comes out natural gel or just a glass of water they will root.
