Early Harvest Advice Needed - Vacation Coming, Must Clean Out Fridge

Hi,

So I have these 3 ladies budding away - today is day 45 of flowering. I have exactly 11 days left before I go away for a week... pics from today below.

Here's my plan - comments appreciated

- Switched res. to Final Phase two days ago. Will switch to plain water today and cut back watering schedule. No water on Friday.

- This Friday, chop everything, hang in carbon filtered dry box

- Jar everything a day before departure

- Leave jars with buddy to burp every day, twice a day while I'm gone.

Good smokeable buds upon my return?

I'm with freezerboy; the timing would be perfect. a nearly two week flush, a week of slow drying, and cure when you get back = smooth dank chronic. my .02

metamorf - LOL, yeah it's a real good buddy - and he's a cheap date. One toke and he's down for the count, so even if he tasted like crazy it'd be a small amount.

freezerboy - interesting perspective... do you think the extra 10 days of flowering without nutes would make a big difference?

If I leave them hanging while gone, maybe no active ventilation just passive so they don't get too dry? All told it'll be 8 days from the time I leave till return, so they'd just be hanging out in the driest portion of my home. I always get a little nervous leaving the house for a long time with the fan on continually, fire paranoia...

Puffing on a 4 day old taster nug right now... not too shabby but a bit harsh without the flush and cure.

so, I think I am going to try this route, just need to figure out where to hang, active or passive ventilation... worried that active might dry too quick

will do final trim dry so the drying while I'm gone is nice and slow

in regards to the two week flush - nothing but ph adjusted plain water? thoughts?

oh - and how do the buds look?

some people use plain water, others use very small amounts of special nutes that deliver small amounts of carbohydrates (similar to using maple syrup or blackstrap molasses) so the plants can still have something to help bulk them up in that last couple weeks of flushing. Carboload and Sweet Leaf are good examples. as for the ventilation issue, i would go with passive intake, make sure theres negative pressure yadda yadda yadda..

Flushing is to force the plant to use up it's nute stores. There may be no nutes in the water but, they're still in the plant.

Now note my last plant flowered for 23 weeks. 45 days? EEK! Do you have any kind of automation for nutes? You could let the garden fend for itself and flush when you get back.

23 Weeks! That's ca-razy... 161 days? These will get 54 total days of 12/12 before harvest. Used to grow AK and we always cut 47 days of 12/12. Are you growing a sativa?

Since I'm still dialing this system in and live in a sensitive location, I think I'll have a much more relaxing vaca. without worrying about the fridge. Have automation, but still concerned about blown lines, fire, smell. Lately murphy's law has been applying to me, so better safe than sorry. Plus then when I get back I can sprout some beans and renovate the fridge and get round 2 going

Think I'll flush until the night before I leave, cut and hang everything in a dark corner of my bedroom and hope for the best.

I have passive intake/active exhaust on my cab, but don't want to leave any motors or fans running while away.

Thankfully I'm dealing with a pretty small haul here, maybe 1.5oz finished? So I'm hoping that hanging in the corner of a 10x12 room there'll be enough air moving around to prevent mold and let them slow dry.

No matter what route I go, I'm rolling the dice on some level.

First time I left Shed home alone, it freaked me out completely. That was only 3 days. Now, I'm good for 2 weeks. Shed will last longer but, growing into the lamp worries me.

Yeah, I'm a Sativa guy. My current grow is Destroyer. It flowers in a Lightning Fast 85 days! LOL
