Best results, with limits

I started some days ago to read about coco and I am sure its the way to go.
I will start with handwatering..

My setup looks like this:

Homebox XS 60x60x120cm
Coalfilter connected to a 400W Hps in cooltube with a 100m2/h fan.

Space is limited. I start grow in small pots > 1L.
A few days of veg or 12/12 lightning from seed. This is to keep the height down.

I want to flower either 9 plants in 15x15x20cm 3,5 L pots or add more plants in smaller pots? What do you guys think? The main key for this setup is to get as much yield in a short time as possible. If 9 plants maybe 25g per plant is a achiveable goal?

I will nute with complete nutes from canna all the way..

Excuse my math. 15x15x20 3,5L pots make 16 plans in this area.
20x20 would make 9. I think I will buy both pots and try both out..

Will it be to hot with the 400w hps although I have a cooltube?

And is 3,5 L a descent pot size to flower a plant in?

The following advice is what I would do if I were in your situations, I haven't used a tent or a 400w before. Nobody has replied so maybe this will help you out...

A 400w in that size tent will give you 103wpsf. That's pretty much the top end of what people use. If you're set on using the 400w, I'd get a dedicated fan to cool the cool tube, and use the 100m2/h fan on the carbon filter. A 250w would be more efficient in that space, you'd definitely get higher gpw, especially since you're doing SOG so the light won't have to penetrate all that far.

3.5l pots are about 1 gallon, which seems to be a pretty common size for SOG grows. 16 plants sounds like a good use of your space, that'd put it at about 4 plants per square foot. You definitely want to grow either single cola plants or top them very low down and get double cola plants, side branches will make your tent a mess.

What kind of fan are you using? I assume by 100m2/h you mean 100 cubic meters per hour. That would be 3531 cubic feet per hour. The most common measurement for fans is cfm, which is cubic feet per minute. Divide the cubic feet per hour by 60 to get per minute, and you get 59cfm. Maybe my math is off, but that is a puny fan. If you're pulling through a carbon filter and a 400w cool tube, I'd get at least a 6" inline fan. If you have separate fans for the filter and cool tube you could probably get away with two 4" inline fans.

Check out these links, you can probably find a lot of useful info for your setup...

Ok, thanks for your advice. The reason I went for the 400w was that I got it real cheap with the cooltube included. And I wanted to get as many watts as possible! But, if you say 250w is more efficient in this space I will sure keep that in mind.

Tomorrow I will set the tent ut for a test run with the 400w hps and give you an update on the temps, if its to high I will switch to 250w before germination.

I think your math is correct, its not the strongest fan. But the guy at the store said it would be allright with the filter. Though I did not mean to use a cooltube.

Thx man. I see other people use 400w in limited space so I sure got to try it out. Im a little excited about running 12/12 lightning from seed and coco. Lots of new things here!

Intense light is great, but ignore any advice you get about easing the nutes in, i.e. starting at low strength. With intense light, they can use full strength. (assuming you start with well rooted clones)

If you want the biggest yield in the shortest time, why not go hydro then?

Fuck this homebox, Ill buy a XL and make this a mother/clone/vegg box :)

That seems more like it to me. The XS is teeny-tiny.
Good luck!

Yeah, get a bigger one...I just finished up a 400w coco grow in a Homebox L and i'm glad I didn't get the S, didn't even consider the XS it's so small . you're gonna want the extra space with cool tube and all. Good luck on the grow!!!
