you should check out some rockwool block covers, their little plastic covers that block light from hitting the rockwool, i just googled it, here's the description that came up,
"These block covers are a great way to reduce algae and mildew growth on growing media. They are white on one side and black on the other. The white side reflects light to the plant while the black side blocks light from the media which helps with algae, mildew and pest problems."
i had some problems with algae growing on the top of my rockwool, a couple times (2 out of probably 200) it decayed the "trunk" of my plant, and killed it. you can even just pile on some more hydroton over the rockwool to block light from hitting it, but i prefer the made covers, i picked up a pack for five bucks at my hydro shop
Hey thanks, I never thought of that. Basically at this stage I have 2x40 Watt CFLS Over Top. But Have a 600 HPS Waiting to be fired up. I have 40 Watt Airpump hooked up to 4 Buckets ea with a 1.5" Square Airstone. I have a Vaportech 4000 for the smell once they get bigger as well. These are just going to be mothers for a 40 Plant 4k Multi flow Sealed C02 Room Starting Up in Nov.
Took me awhile to get the P.H. right. My meter was broken and I smashed it to bits and bought a new one the other day. So now that the P.H. is right and There at 300 ppm Nutes they should start taking off.
Fire that puppy up. Yesterday. You're way stretched out.
While improper venting and lamp proximity hold some danger in the form of heat and IR burns, your seedlings blow their nose on your puny 600 watter. These things are designed for the Sun.
I did a lot of research for the strain, and yes its supposed to be very potent, and it yielded 3 lbs, per 1k , in the same setup that I will have it in.
Ok, Got the 600 On them last night. Lowered it a couple of inches this morning To 3 Feet Exactly. P.H. Sits at 6.7 -6.8
Raised PPM to 400. Going to lower the light a couple inches every day, and raise the ppm by 100 every other day. Roots are hitting the water finally. YAY
