container size for 12/12 from seed?

I'm growing some Nirvana cali - o and bagseed 12/12 from seed under CFLs to keep small - only have 2.5 feet of headroom. they are two weeks old and I need to move them into new containers - what is the smallest container I can use until they show sex without hurting them? after which I will make last transplant into like 2 gallons? Will possibly be using promix with ewc.

You can grow in as small of a container as you want. However, the smaller the container the more often you will have to water.
12/12 from seed doesn't mean your plants will stay small. They will usually be just as tall as grown conventionally.

Use a 2L soda bottle with the top cut off, punch some holes in in the bottom and cover the outside with tinfoil.
If heigh is an issue you can transplant on an angle into your 2 gallon containers,it will open it up to more light.

I have a one flowering in a 20oz bottle right now. about halfway done. And i would recommend the 2litre bottle. but remember that it will be at least 1 ft tall. so remember that when you cut your bottle(leave enough room). Depending on how many plants and what style you will use, 2 gal kinda seems like a lot for only 2.5 ft

These square Laffy Taffy containers are better than soda bottles IMHO.... These are 7" tall and 6" square inside. A true usable 216 cubic inches. .8 Dry US gallons or 3.5 liters. The corner structure makes an ideal place for your 4 drain holes. The footprint isn't much bigger than a soda bottle. Getting the plants out is a snap too. They are easily reusable and I do reuse them. You won't have to water as much depending on how you train/trim your plants. I love them.

When using fluorescent lighting, keep the plants as close to the bulbs as possible. Use a higher color temperature bulb if you can (4100k, 5000k etc.). Keep temps cool as well. All of these will help keep the plants short. I would think with 2 1/2' of head room you should be all set depending on the strain. If necessary you can apply Low Stress Training (LST) to control height.

This is Lifesaver at 34 days 12/12 in a 5 1/2" square container under (2) 5000K 42 watt CFL's. It was vegged for 2 weeks prior to 12/12. I was able to keep this and 2 other plants under 1' using LST.

Unless you are moving a LARGE amount of air thru a Cab be careful how close you are to the Bulbs.....they are not tube flors.....they are CFL's and they are HOT...

No Silly Rabbit....it's I/R Thermometer and I am reading the surface temp of each size CFL Bulb....saying How close do ya wanna be to something that Hot?

You can also go with 1 quart chinese soup containers.
I have been using them for my last 4 grows and they work good for me.

BTW I get them at a local resturant suppy,
50 with the lids cost me $12.00.

i dont know where you live but you can get all kinds of pots from the nursey... i wash them out get a 5 gal bucket and sterilize them and your ready to go and they are usually pretty cheap to get they save me a shitload of money

Sex my plants in 16oz. styrofoam cups. Started part of my grow in 32oz styro cups this current grow and they work great. The 32oz cups showed sex first at 18 days from germination. All were sexed before 3 weeks veg. Can get them (32oz cups) sent to my home in bulk, cheap. My 16oz cups I pot up 2X- 1gal and final is 5gal. With the 32oz, gonna pot up once (already have), and see how it goes.

For 12/12 for seed, I think I'd want at least 2 gallons for faster strains and at least 5 for pure tropical sativas.
