Stealth Window Ventilation

Hey guys, I need to build some kind of stealth window cover that will intake and exhaust air, quietly if at all possible. My window is about 3'x3', and opens side to side, and It has blinds. My room itself is 10x10 and I will be venting 1 four port manifold for exhaust, and one for intake through the window. I need it to look like there is nothing there, and be as quiet as possible as it is facing a busy parking lot. For more info, I am using one port for my light column (3k 2-1), one port for my dual hose a/c, one port for my veg, and one port for my room. Any ideas on how I can build a stealth window? (Check my gallery for a pic of my window)

i would put plywood over it and cut holes in it for each vent hose .all though i dont know about using that window for both intake and exhaust

Thats actually what I was thinking about doing, since the blinds would cover it anyway. Unfortunately the window is my only ventilation option at this point. I thought about exhausting through a hole in the ceiling, but I live in an apartment and that would not look good on my rental history, which IS important to me. Why WOULD the window not be good for both? Thanks man. Any other suggestions?

IMHO, any window facing a parking lot is not going to be acceptable for exhaust and/or intake.

With that being said: if you do go through with this, you will want to be absolutely certain that you have good scrubbers on exhaust or your smell will leak out of the room.

I would suggest constructing a box that is a few inches high, the width of the intake area. There should be a wall in the box that splits it down the middle. One side for exhaust, the other for intake. The open end of the box should face the window. The other side, should have a downward slope that goes down into the room beneath the window. On the side towards the window, staple fabric or something over the exhaust/intake ports so that it doesn't look like two holes. Then just put a couple of statues or something on it so that it looks like a shelf. With the slope in the back, you can place your intake and exhaust below the window; blowing up into it or sucking in from it.

Simple, stealth, possible.

That's just my idea though. There might be others who have pulled something else off.

Have you considered dual bladed window fans? The contained fans would be useless but, gutted and modded, it would make a great facade. You see those things in windows everywhere.

Your other option would be to not use the window at all.

Cool the room with an AC or Chiller.
Inject CO2 into the air.

This will cost you a good amount, buy hey, wouldn't you feel really silly skimping out on a $2,000 dollars when someone finds your grow?

I had a similar setup before in my apartment and let me just say it was a bad idea. I constructed a great 4'Wx8'Lx8'T tent, had great equipment, and I just had NO WAY to keep it properly ventilated without completely compromising stealth. Only way it is going to work is if you got the balls to risk it, but make sure your prepared to do the time!

Good luck and BE SAFE!

I'm confused you have an a/c hose you are venting? Does that mean airconditioning? I'm kinda confused on what and why you are venting it all? I read your message made a post then reread and am now repost my first message. Because if you have ac then what else do you need? just to air cool your lights then why vent from the window at all? Just up the size of your fan or add another fan and move more air than could possible ever get hot though those fuckers. That plus air condition should do it if that isn't what you ment then i think (although i'm still kinda confused :kinda stoned:) Then here is my first message

I'm with catman man.... Please for your own safety DO NOT blow air from your weed grow room which is not legal out of the window of your apartment, Please! That is just not a good idea. Standing AC units cost about 200-400 bucks and a good co2system (co2boost) is only like 215 to set up and your yeilds will higher for it.

Your air cooled lights don't need to have cool air to keep them cool. I know that is what everyone says but i've done grows where I pulled 75` (from my aparment) air though a duct over two 1000w bulbs granted i used 2 high CFM inline fans to keep the air moving but it kept my room 75-82 all summer long and they were not temped summers by any means.

Man all i'm trying to say is. You don't want to go to jail because the wind changed directions.

Thanks,
john

Correct me if I'm wrong but if hot air rises you might want to put exhaust on top so the intake on bottom doesn't suck hot air . Go withs a window fan unless you have a brand new filter that will run a year then go with a window box . Be safe first window fans at least you can smell if the carbon is sweet.

You should use a exhaust manifold from a portable two hose AC. This is very stealthy since it looks like an AC. The one I use is about 3-4 inches wide and has two 5" round exhaust ports. I dont know if this would provide enough flow for your setup, but it works like a charm. Use the top for exhaust and bottom port for intake, that way your hot air floats up when exhausted. If you need more flow you can use two of them, IMO more stealthy that a piece of plywood in your window, especially if its in an area where lots of people will see it.

Yep I agree here. I would NOT vent to a busy parking lot. This is what I have done, however it doesn't take balls (dont get me wrong it does take some) so much as preparation. When growing in an apt. you should be able to pack all your stuff up in 10 mins to make it look like nothing was going on at all. If you have more than can be packed up, maybe you should look in growing in a house, apt. have different rules than houses and you'll want to follow them or be screwed.
