hydro setup question

about to start a small commercial hydro grow, with a seperate veg cabinet, the veg cab will be 3x4x4ft tent with a 400w cmh and would house 4x 5 plant dwc systems, i have 2 flower cabs each 5x5x6.5ft with 1k in each with 9 multiflow pots in each, would it be possible to veg a plant for 3 weeks in a dwc setup in a 3,75 in net pot, then transfer them to the multiflow bucket system still in the 3.75in net pot? would this affect my root growth?? would my plants suffer any stress from the transfer? all opinions welcome

if you're vegging them 5 to a bucket, then yah, it'll hurt the roots, they will get tangled together... might have to cut some... but most will live, however, jamming them all through a 3 inch hole in a bucket lid is going to suck...

the veg unit is a 13x20x10 inch rubbermaid storage box, not vegging in buckets, will transfer them to the multiflow unit which is a 2gallon bucket with hydroton, dont have to really jam them in anywhere

as long as you keep the roots wet and in tact, I dont foresee any problems...also make sure the hydroton is clean and your water is good...

question though... when you transfer them, are you transplanting them at the same time you switch them to the 12/12 cycle with a hps bulb?

yeah you can do that, id maybe try and keep them on the veg light cycle with the mh for a few days until they get used to the hydroton, THEN stick them in the HPS

the 3.75 in net cup it started in and was transfered in would keep most the roots in tact, but would it stunt the growth in the ebb grow buckets?

i would say no, because the roots have formed outside of the net cup correct? roots do some crazy things.

roots will grow thrugh the net cups in a matter of days, after a few weeks, they will grow into eachother. i only veg for around a week, i tried 2 weeks and the shit was a nightmare to seperate. i veg mine 15 to a container like this

lil wayne- yea the roots by that time should be pretty long, thats the only thing im afraid of is when i transfer them the roots wouldnt really be spread out, would they strangle eachother???
steve- was thinking on it, i might modify the lids of my veg unit to hold the roots in a deep mesh pouch so to keep them seperated, this way they wont get tangled, the next thing is

I thought about using a mesh pouch too... I was thinking about using pantyhose in each site to keep the roots apart, but then i remembered i was doing a sog, and that i could just veg them less, lol.

Either way, good luck bro. You'll work somethin out! And when you do, be sure to share your results!
