I think that is why is states in bold "DO NOT USE AIRSTONES" on their product slicks - they don't want you recirculating.

Hope the issue doesn't set you back to long.

BTW - how did they resolve your problem/did they send you some free nutes to fix your grow?

Their literature states that aquaflakes is for a reciruclating system.
I would assume that means the others, such as cocos, are not.

I didnt used H&G nutes, but Canna says the same about its Cannacoco. More, they say you cant recirculate using coco.

Ive done it for years without a single problem.

But of course, nutes manufacturers wants you go run to waste. Their money is on it :violin: And if recirculating, they like to advice to dump off the res very often. Of course.

If you know what are you doing, there is no any problem with a sintetic nute being recirculated. It requires some experience growing, though. But its not nute related, but how do you manage it.

The worst to recirculate is using a bad quality water. High Ca or still low Na content in water may be a serious concern, because they tend to accumulate. Specially in coco, due its high CEC, it often lead to media unbalancing.

call up humboldt wholesale, their stateside distributor, and ask them about the aerating the reservoir.
you may just be surprised about how often labeling changes.

They guys at my hydro shop tried to get me to switch over to aqua flakes from the coco. I didn't want to switch though cuz I had such good results with the coco a+b. They also said the the aqua flakes was for recirculating and the coco for DtW. They said the aqua flakes were cleaner and more people preferred it even for coco. I don't recirculate I run drain to waste so I guess I'm ok. Maybe sometime I'll try out the aqua flakes just for comparisons sake.

i wasnt using an airstone in the rez at all. but about the airstone problem this company is based in europe where people use agitators (aka water pumps to stir water, break the surface and allow for oxygenation) if u use an airstone itll cause a crazy amount of bacteria to form and cause problems. It set me back a few hundred dollars for sure, i had also got the store to call before and they failed to mention it was DTW all previous times. They are sending me a box, and by box i mean gallon sized jugs of everything, my buddy at the hydro store got a box for testing purposes and he said it was about a years supply for him (and hes bigger setup than i!) so i might be givin out free nutes to my med patients here. Still doing a side by side of vita-grow and H&G (vitagrow = 50 bucks a run vs H&G 400+)

the coco is also one point higher in N than the aquaflakes which tends to cause a nitrogen buildup. im runnin aquaflakes and coco and hopefully itll work this time
love peace and chicken grease

I've been running the Aqua Flakes for months and I found it very satisfying. Simple in my recirculating system, and I rarely...rarely changed my res. I just added RO H2o and more A/B. I did run Cal mag all the time, but I really don't know if that is needed. pH was remarkable stable during the run.
