What's new

carpatian, thaifun, nectarhaze outdoors

Hi all
I've got some earlier pictures made with a non-digital camera, film was just developed.

First a picture is an early pearl that was harvested some time ago, force-flowered.

This is a pic of the thaifun1 that proved to be male later. The way the leaves look is different from the other two thaifuns. I think it looks pretty primordial in some way.

The bushmix when it was a baby :gaga: (it's one plant).

Carpatian

The skinny carpatian flowers, wouldn't grow larger than this.

Pregnant by nectar-haze

Two current pictures of my little guerilla (digital camera).

early pearl (this plant is a cutting from the e.p. shown above). It's so yellow, I know.

"the group". Five plants now, one male has been removed. Lot of bug-damage on two plants.

That's it for now, byeeee.

Oh thats interesting my friend. Me i saw around 15 carpatian females in my and friends grows and any one looked like this. All were really nice and frosty as i show on the pics or better.
Average carpatian potency is around 7-8/10 but there are also killers with reaally strong 9/10 potency and these are really heavy hitters :)
But it looks u have also some problems with Nectar Haze as i see. Too weak resin coveraging on this pregnant haze as it looks from the pics. But hazes are damn frosty. Are u sure my friend u arend doint something wrong? I dont know but only idea.

eeeh, that's a bit of a bold assumption you're making there.
You misunderstood, that picture is actually a pollinated branch of carpatian. Same plant. Pregnant by a nectar haze male.

As long as one gives a plant the best possible conditions there's not anything one can do "wrong". Do you spot any signs of deficiencies or over-fertilization? Just seems like we have different experiences with carpatian.
I also must say, the colour saturation of the pictures is a bit off, in real time trich-coverage was not bad.

Hmmm, i think u had to get some bad pheno, cause as i told i have great experience with carp and for sure i will grow it also next year. And maybe only this, cause its super early, sativa high and damn damn potent same plants and rest are really good potent. And with great yield. Uf i reallyd ont understand why u have this like plants, mmm.

beautiful bro, sorry bout the lovely thai male. nice new cross. best of luck dude!

Hey karakom, the way your carps turned out and like you describe them (sativa high, damn early), it's like a holy grail strain to me..

Hi esbe, thanks a lot hombre!

Hi there stone! Am I mistaken or is the Carpathian only having 3 fingers on a leaf? On the first picture it's is looking really healthy!

Blezz, you're probably talking about the 3d picture?, that's a bushmix (busman's X lebanese(?)). It has mostly 5 to 7 leafblades, so not many.

Karakoram, we're talking about Carpatian as a sativa. But.. According to some info I got from Thule earlier  Royal dane's origins are indica. It took on a sativa look after years of adaptation to northern conditions.
Quote from Thule who got this info from the danish frobanken website: "It's based on "an indica from Langeland" Island. After that crossed with Afghan, Chitral and Hindukush among others."

Hi
So, it's the end of september. The weather has been good the last few weeks and will probably get worse the coming weeks. The bushmix plant looks pretty good. Needs a couple of more weeks to finish. After reading a few things about busman's on the net, I think Bushman's is pretty dominant in this cross. By the looks of it I thought it was busman's x lebanese(bluehemp's) with the lebanese dominating. But it turns out bushman's can look this stout and broadleaved and it smells like liquor, a busman's feature.

The purple tops and early pearl are still not really flowering.

The thai has small delicate sativa flowers.

The nectar haze. It's been flowering since one week later than the bushmix, but the flowers are not growing very much or fast. But then again, it is a runt. The smell is hazy/rotten, and there's a nice layer of tiny crystals forming. Curious about smoking it!

Hi Zielonylasss thanks  I like her too although it is a runt, it is my only nectarhaze female.

Today after maybe ten days of really bad weather I found the first mold on the nectarhaze and the bushmix. On the bushmix I found only one (!) moldy calys plus a tiny fraction of a bud leaf. On the nectarhaze a small part of a bud was molded.
So far I think the busmix's mold resistance is excellent.

Bushmix (one plant, two stalks) needs a week or two more:

Nectarhaze approaching harvest time. Luckily the coming week the weather will be better, otherwise I think all of the nectarhaze would get budrot quickly and I would have had to harvest.

Thaifun horizon
This plant smells spicy/peppery not sure yet but very nice just the way I Like it. Producing nice tiny crystals!

Hi stoners :rasta:

The bushmix was cut down on the 14th oct. when it was full moon. So far I'm pretty satisfied with it.

The thaifun..well I'm really not sure whether this is pure thai now at all. It show a lot of similarities in the budleaves and purpling to the nectarhaze. (I assume nectarhaze is a selection of bluehemp's tophaze).
And I don't think I mislabeled the thaifun. I have a feeling thaifun is thai X tophaze, but I could be totally wrong and need to see more reports on thaifun horizon

A short summary of my experience with thaifun:
Bought 5 seeds.
Four popped.
Two were indica/sativa looking; this one and the small one I have guerilla, both females.
Two were sativa looking, of which one was a complete runt that wouldn't grow, both males.

The bigger thaifun as it is now: not very mold resistant, just like nectarhaze (in my limited experience).

I agree looking from these pics, that, for a start, the leaves look rather broad for a pure thai landrace, they're not exactly what you'd expect from them, which should be insanely thin leaves like that of a pure green haze or a south indian... 11 weeks for a pure thai landrace, even with selections done. it seems nearly impossible, especially one that can finish under cold temperatures... a thai strain should be mold proof, anyways let us know how that final smoke turns out to be, if it is a pure oldschool, energetic, no-ceiling trippy high or not (I have yet to experience a high like that myself). I will also be growing them out, inside, then outdoors next season (after choosing a mom for the best smoke)
good luck finishing them off :joint:

Hi Esbe, happy harvest to you to man.

Hi Ganjabrother, I appreciate your thoughts on the thaifun. I think the same, but I have seen an indoor-report that said the high was great and old-school.. we'll see.
Actually last year I grew a "thai" (maybe laotian??) from dutch coffeeshop-thaiweed (imported). It had a super low yield, but the mold resistance was super high. The smoke was the best, no ceiling, I really LOVED it, but I had so little. This was her:

On a whole different and sadder note: my guerrilla grow was trashed by someone. Plants were pulled out of the soil and gone, no significant yield was on them.
They were planted late and would have yielded little, but still I was very mad about it yesterday. I had quite some work in that spot and a few weeks ago I even made a raised soil-bed around the stem of the thaifun to make it healthier which was even working..
Also it was about the different strains I had and to observe/taste them. Now I won't get to taste sensi's durban, at least not this year..

The last picture of the guerilla-thaifun. By the way, this plant was looking to be the most resinous I've ever grown, in early flowering there were abundant trichomes on the leaves and along big portions of the stems. I made some early flowering cuttings that I've pollinated, and it seems I'll still get about 5 to 10 seeds from them, so that's cool!

Two purple tops on the top-left, one south indiaXskunk on the bottom, one purple(own breed) on the right and a sensi-durban way down low on the top-right. R.I.P.
247284-groep-med.JPG

This plant I was still able to harvest. So that's the end of the little guerilla, what can I do about it..nothing!
247284-earlypearl.JPG

Peace and don't let them get you down!

Hey, what's up!

2472813-thaifun.JPG

Think I'm gonna harvest the thaifun today. It's had two nigths of frost in a row and a lot of cells in the leaves and stems have been damaged. This plant's been cold! Tonight temp will be probably 0 celcius, and rest of the week higher, but think I will harvest anyway because of the damage.

Damaged leaf

I reported a peppery smell earlier. That's not really true. My very late flowering early pearl in a pot does smell extremely peppery, my favorite cannabis smell. The thaifun has a very mild, hashy smell. Maybe it will reaveal more smells after curing.

Some last budshots. You can see a little bit of foxtail structure here and there.

Hey Stone Locust
Let her go for another week if the weather is not so bad... You'll harvest buds not leafs bro!
But she is sooo beautiful... I don'tvwonder you want to chop her hehehe...
Nice job man!

Yes you're right. But I did chop her. All the tops are now in a vase of water, ripening further inside!
It's always so difficult to decide when to chop. This one was not finished yet but I've had patches of mold with this one, and there will be some rain the coming days + raise in temperature = more mold. Anyway, I chopped, but the tops can ripen a bit further.

Thanks for thinking with me man!
