Thanks, THoC!
I really enjoy the CMH. It really looked like a real veggy grow at first...like a MH, but it really made things swell and smell late flower.
OK...The screen thing...
I am going to make a final write-up on the screen later, but I can tell you that I will not be using it for awhile. I am not giving up on it, I just think that the scrog would best be served in the horizontal position. The two Carns were as identical as they could be without being clones, and they grew almost the exact same pattern both in the screen and not. And the head bud in the screen is the largest bud of them all. Although I am fairly certain that the total yield from the unscreened plant is going to top the screened one.
We'll see next weekend, which will be the 9 wk mark. Although the tops of the carns are for sure close to finished. Only random amber yet, but if I were to be taking these the old way...by the looks of the hairs...they would be coming down already. In fact, a whiles back I may have even missed the wonderful color these plants posses.

Hey, DH!
Yeah, the thing has really been a great success so far. The first grow was a little disappointing in yield, but what grow spaces first grow isn't?
I don't weigh weed, but I may do so this harvest just to see where I am with the numbers. I would not be able to get the yield I'm gonna have from this pull without the vertical set-up, cept maybe with a nice horz screen.
Next grow will be testing my new SWC tube w/basically same set-up as now, but this winter I plan on doing a horizontal scrog in it one time.

My M#1 and the 2 MOC Carnivals were all ready to come down. So down they came.
I still have 2 SM's and the Thunk finishing in the cab.

I was convinced that the Carn that was not in a screen would outyield the one in the Scrog. But, I was wrong.
I don't weigh any herb, so all I have are postal scales that weigh in oz's.
The unscreened Carn weighed 7.4 ounces wet and the screened Carn weighed 7.5 ounces. These two plants have been absolutely identical in every aspect from seed to saw.
Again, please forgive my terrible photography skills and equip.

This is the Unscreened Carn A:

I wont be the first or the last to say that those are some nice nice sweet looking buds!!! Very nice.

Thanks for your thoughts about the screen vs unscreen. I havent run a scrog grow for a few years now and have gotten used to just letting the plants go. I havent had the time in recent years to tend to the screen! However I must say personally I like the horiz/v screen for my micro/box grows. Im not running any grows at the moment and am just perusing different grow styles to see how I might go next time. Thanks for keeping up the notes!

cheers

If you were to make these types of screens again, how would you go about them and could you mount them to a 20oz soda bottle and use them in a micro SOG that is all the rage in the micro boards?

I'm really interested in this as V-Scrog screens would be easy to make from a jig and fishing wire but are they worth the patience to fabricate and use? I'm not worried about getting more light to both sides as I'll be using LED side lighting to supplement whatever lighting option I choose.

Nice work!

So you vegged your thunk for 40+ days and it didn't stretch? Hmmm...I think I better germinate those seeds sooner than I had planned. BTW, how big is she now?

Thanks for stoppin in, BigBlack. I used regular hurricane fencing which could be fashioned around a bottle easy enough. Wrap it around and zip tie or tape it on.

Thanks for the kind words, Cozy.
Well, the Thunk did stretch, but nothing like I have seen others do.
It is a 10 wks and is about 39 inches tall. I don't have a recent pic of it, but I will get one soon. It is basically 4 tails on a stick. A couple about 12 inches long, and 2 are about 22-24 inches long.
Just last week did they really start to put off some nice smell. Nothing at all like the familiar hint of thai smell they normally carry in veg, but rather a more pungent almost skunky-ish potent herb smell when the buds are messed with.
The pistols are about 50% turned now, and it looks like it may be trying to get finished. Although there are still lots of trichs to cloud up as yet. The trichs on this plant are as small as you will ever see.

I just harvested two SM's in small pots that I put in this run just for kicks, and I am glad I did as it raised my yield by about a 1/2 oz.
All that is left in the flower cab from this run is the Thunk...

The Thunk is still in flower.
The aroma of these buds are now a very strong mango-like fruity smell.
One more week and I will be taking the Thunk down. 12wks.

Hey, Saibai!
I'm glad you asked...I was just about to post up something on the Thunk.
I had tested a few buds of the Thunk early on. The classic hay taste was heavy. Very reminiscent of smoking bone dry fan leaves. The aroma of the buds was very similar to the taste as well.

As the buds aged a bit (probably around wk 9) they took on a very nice and heavy fruit smell. I would say close to mango/orange peel. A small squeeze of any bud would bring on a very fresh and delightful aroma.

I suppose I could have taken the plant out as many weeks as I wanted, but it came down at 12 wks. No amber trics at all at cut. Smallest (though plentiful) trics I have seen before on any sativa.
I really took painstaking time to trim out all of the sugar leaves. This was quite a task, but I had some fantastic finger rub when done!
I dried for three days, and put into a cure box.

The smell opening the box (tight sealed tupperwar-ish) is that of fresh cut fruit. A very nice intoxicating aroma.
And with every day that goes by, the taste is increasingly nice! Man, this stuff has a very old school taste of thai, mixed in with the flavor of the tropics.

A very wispy bud looks like it will not be much, but it deceivingly fills my bowl nicely.
And I had no fat buds at all. They may have swollen up if I let them go longer. (shrug)

The buzz from this pot is very racy. And I found that there is not much of a ceiling for peak. Although, smoking more than normal seems to bring on increased heart rate and flushing, and would probably bring on some anxiety and paranoia in unseasoned smokers.

I find that the best attribute of this pot is enhancing an already good buzz. After I have a good buzz going from some hybrid, or maybe even an indica, smoking a bowl of Thunk really brings out the best of things.

Thunk is a great wake and bake product!

I haven't posted much but I have read through plenty of your threads and I loved reading the evolution of your grow tube. You are very technical and it makes understanding your grows much easier. This looks like another great grow from the cab. I know it's not the place but you always seem to have an informed answer so here's my deal. Just recieved four more Menage-A-Twois in veg, they're about 2ft tall and about a month and a half old. Leggy little things due to a distanced light and lack of nutes. I just fed them with some 2-5-1 organic fish fert. They seem to be coming around, but they are still a little yellow and have purple stems. The new leaves also have mildly raised ridges. I was wondering if there is a toxic buildup or if they are just still starving. Any help would be greatly appriciated, sorry for taking over your diary.

lol...it's OK tree, not much action here anywho.
And I appreciate the kind words.

Without having more details about your situation, I would be afraid to make any sort of diagnosis at all. The infirmary has some folks who are as good as they get on horticultural health issues. I suggest giving a full report there and I am sure someone will be happy to help out.

If you need something to think about now...folks more often than not feed their plants WAY too much food and water. It is probably the biggest problem plants face.

So did the THUNK finish? To be honest, I'm still interested in seeing a pic. I just want to know what to expect for mine. She is about a month into flower and already trippled (maybe quadrupled) in size! Soooooo many bud sites...

Wow, I missed a reply to my own thread. Sorry bout that Cozy.
The Thunk was harvested at ~11 wks. I reported on it above.
This is the only pic I have of the buds.
42896Photo_092208_002.JPG

I put a cut of it outside this year and was able to get it to about 13 wks, and it was about exactly the same as the indoor 11wk. No amber trics on either.
I had painted the outdoor plant with a Growdoc AD, but the weather made me bring it inside to finish the seeds in a box.
42896Photo_102708_002.JPG

But, the AD male sprouted some full on female flowers, which made it a bad hermie, and I so hate bad hermies. So, I harvested the Thunk before much seed formation had happened.
You can see in the above shot the AD male in with the Thunk.

This pheno of ThazexSK1 that I have is one of the best smelling MJ plants I have ever encountered...in my life. It is a mixture of fresh peeled oranges and moist mangos. Not subtle, but almost overwhelming at first whiff of a fresh opened jar. This smell starts at about 8-9 wks or so, and gets heavier until after about 30 days cure, when it starts to mellow out to a more subtle aroma.
The smoke makes you think harsh at first draw, but you immediately realize that it is more refreshing than harsh. The fruity aroma carries through to the aftertaste.
This is not indica lovers pot.
