What's new

Another SOG yield question!

36 pots in a 4x4, 25 in my 3x3, 18 in my 2x2, (2gal i believe) They are close enough that light doesn't really reach down to the tray, allowing a nice root mat to develop w low to no algae. You can move them around the first few weeks for height adjustment-short in the middle- tall around the edges of the tray. 600's are nice, 1000 is better. If doing 600 you might think about 12/12 when they are 8 to 10 inches tall b/c of height limitations.

I water every 90mins/24/7. plus or minus 30 mins depending on what growth stage.

Yield has been upto 37ounces per 4x4 depending on strain, and as low as 17-24oz w/ my 600w and DJ's F-13.
Indica will 3-3.5x in height, sativa will be 5-6x the height of when it was started to the time it finishes.

Sounds like a great room--fabricated rez's are gr8 if you can afford them esp. 70gal/100gal. cya

Plywood reservoirs are great but as with all bare wood in your growroom, varnish or paint it..... it is usually the first place mould grows before infesting your crop......once sealed, no problem.

I believe the 30g story, I had a 63g plantlet once with neighbours in the 50's... 800W/49 plants psm, homemade NFT table, HGF Green Spirit...no CO2 .....more than 30 is possible.

MG.........If you wanna be an asshole after I retracted my callin bullshit post about these kinda yields in Yamaha`s thread while trying to help here then I`ll tell you what I`m sayin without all the dots and whatnots so you might be able ta comprehend . Anything`s possible regarding yields to a certain degree with enough knowledge and experience but doing it would be in the upper 1% of experienced growers that have full knowledge of their strain and know how to exploit the stretch for those kinda yields . Most all SOG growers hover around and mostly under 1 gram per watt and if they do better it`s directly related to the numbers of grows under their belts while learning their plants needs .That being said , The SOG system is supposed to be NO veg while flowering rooted clones for the turnaround of more runs per yr increasing the bottom line . There`s no way Albert Hoffman or ANYFUCKIN body else does 128-30 gram plants side by side in 32 sq. ft. w/3-600`s without vegtime , the proper rape , shape ,and pillage underneath the lights penetration , THE STRAIN FROM HELL , and serious knowledge of how much they can trim and shape their strain without shocking the plants DURING the stretch for too long to promote upper plant swellage for those kinda unheard of accelerated yields . Now , Is that plain enough for you to understand ? I came to this thread to give honest info about what most can expect from SOG grows because I`ve been party to hundreds of em with VERY experienced growers that do this shit for a living as they don`t look for non-existent expectations but rather depend on consistency run after run . Form your opinions based on documented knowledge MG ........ It`d be a crapshoot at best for the proper pheno to perform those amazing feats of 2-2.5 grams per watt in a horizontal grow.........Especially under 3-600`s....... Ya`ll take care and don`t take no wooden nickels aight ? DHF :joint: No offense folks and especially you AH

I've finished taking the measurements for my DIY rez and I'm about to buy the shit to build it this weekend. Chaos, thanks for your input dude. I'm going to paint the wood I use white, just to avoid that chance of quick mold.

I figured, 96" x 48" x 6" rez puts me at just around 119 gallons. I tried to take into account that rarely do my sub pumps pump the last 1" or so out of the bottom, so I figured 18-20 gallons would stay in the rez consistently anyway. Making my rez useful for about 100 gallons, and my table holding about 120 gallons. Give or take a gallon. ---> thanks for the help Yamaha... I owe ya one.

It's time for me to move on to the next issue. Electric. I'll be dropping another 12/2 line in order to run my lamps and ventilation on one circuit. I'll run my dehumidifier, pumps and floro's on the other circuit. Both 20A breakers. More then enough for this run. Is it smarter to leave my electrical plug-ins outside of the grow space, or inside for easier access and less heat? Do they even produce any real heat?

I've also ordered a pack of LUI, and will use it for this run. It's going to take me 5-8 weeks to get enough decent clones for the first run, but the second and third runs are what will make it worth it. I'm looking for a short, stinky and most of all HEAVY Ortega pheno, I heard it kicked ass anyway you look at it.

As far as DHD, I appreciate your taking the time to help me out, I really do. And I never called you an asshole. I just think your being a bit unreasonable, and making the assumption that I'm a noob, which certainly isn't the case. I don't do this for a living, although it'd be fun, but I know what I'm doing and value what I learn here. So feel free to not comment on my thread, it's not worth dukin' it out internet style. Later on dude.

Oh, and if AH reads this... what genetics is he doing 30g+ with? Watts? Yamaha?

Albert Hoffman claims to get around 28 grams dry per plant with DP's PowerPlant. I think he said he is getting a tad more with a new strain he is trying, cant remember the name

DOH!!

And King of Thorns said his other strain that is producing higher may be Rezes D39 and I am pretty sure that is right

What kind of electrical plugins are you talking about?

Dont forget to leave an air gap under that rez.

As far as the pump and the last inch or two. My pump has a threaded intake on the side that sits a couple inches off the bottom. Get a threaded fitting, put an elbow on it so it sits just a hair above the bottom. Should get all the water out. Its not needed in my case but may benefit you

yamaha, when I did that with my pump (the 4000gph beast), it would actually suck the bottom of my res up and block the water, so before I had my filter, i would just tilt it diagonally to the side, straight down just above the bottom was just too close.

Dunno if that applies with this pump, i'm assuming it has more to do with how big the pump is, i couldnt see a 200gph sucking up a rubbermaid bottom, lol.

anyways, thought i'd throw that in.

My 'torpedo' waterfall pump sits about 4 inches off the bottom of the res, and now that I have a filter on it, i can't use the elbow... I lose i think around 8 gallons because of this.

I didnt think about that. Plus hes using pond liner which would be more prone to getting sucked up unless he glued it down to the plywood.

For the kind of yield you're talking about I think you need a proven strain to begin with that will def yield in a scrog (like the aforementioned p.p.). I've had some strains that love it and others that won't yield shit without a longer veg. The cooltubes may prove to be a problem as the footprint is heavy in the center and not as good on the side plants. Ever consider 4x600 in cooltubes zigzagged across the 4x8? Two in each line 1/4 of the way across the table? That would rock the hell out of a 4x8 but may not be possible, don't know what your constraints are. Anyway, good luck with your goal!!! hope to see some good results! peace, dr

I would love to see this 4x600 set up over a 4x8!!!

Aghhhhh, this thread picked up quick. Give me a few hours to get a decent reply in order, I've got class in a few...

I'm sending money orders out like crazy, and picking packages up from all over the place ; )

I found a freaking 4x8 table on CL for $125 and I was lucky enough to scoop a Lumatek 600 for like 120 on the bay! Who couldn't use a few extra c-notes in the bank right now?

I'll reply to everyone later, thanks for keeping this alive. I'm just going to do my entire grow here, at the forum, on this thread.

Personally I would rather put the 4X600 over 2 4X8 tables... but that's just me.
Obviously 3 or 4 on a 4X8 will yield more than 2 but if you're going for g/W then you need to stretch that light a little.

Okay so I just sent out the money order to Hemp Depot and payed extra cheddar to have it rushed there in 3 or so days. I ordered a pack of LUI, and I'm fvcking stoked to get it here and find my girls : ) I was torn between DP power plant and LUI, but I wanted a really indica strain, and LUI has gotten great reviews around here. Let's pray for a gnarly Ortega pheno! :jump:

Dr. Snow, I'd love to run another lamp dude, unfortunately I can't afford an extra light set-up. It's bad enough I had to order generic brand HPS & MH lamps for my 3 lights. More lumens then the good ones, but I'm sure there is a negative side to it. After all, you get what you pay for.

As far as the cool tubes go, I have little bat wing reflectors for each, and will use them through flower. It should help even the footprint out a little bit. There is no way I can afford new reflectors, financially or temp wise.

SoSincere, I'm right at 1800, with a dehumidifier and fan's keeping my environment sound. If my temps get over 90, I plan on adding C02. We'll see though. 4 or 5#'s WILL happen... I just need IC's advice and help.

Yamaha, I'll be building the rez this weekend, and I'll get some pictures up when it's finished. I might even make it a DIY thread? The extra h20 in my rez won't bother me... it will get used or flushed eventually, and I don't plan on keeping this rez forever... it's a temp until I move into the new place.

Now for the questions. Where in the fvck am I supposed to find 6x6" square pots for my table, they're like $1 a pop, which is like 130 beaners.... too much! :bashhead:

I read in a thread here a while back that FLIR was useless during the daytime, which makes perfect sense... is this true? How can I calculate my cost of operation electricity wise? Will my 2 new lamps draw a lot of attention on the power grid? I didn't think so, but what the hell do I know.

I'm going to build my own scrubber, and in the mean time let my 12 Widows finish up flowering.

Thanks for the help. I will keep you guys/gals posted. It should be one hell of a show!

Those batwing reflectors for your tubes suck, trust me. What you need to do is get some cheapo reflectors (the kind made out of a sheet of hammered metal) and hang them an inch or two above the tube, that helps with the footprinte for sure.

Good luck with your grow!

dude, just get some sheet metal and either spraypaint it flat white with heatresistant paint or leave it be. Just bend/fold it a bit and hang it over the tubes. Without it, the footprint really does suck.

I've already panda filmed my ceiling, which reflects all of my light to the canopy considering the top of the cool tube is 2" or so from the ceiling.

Do I still need it? Is my footprint still 3x3 for each lamp?
