Rappers still do what they talk about. The real ones man Look at c-murder cassidy, i dont like dipset but those fools move bricks. I just like the rappers that arent studio and have actually lived the life they speak of I mean shit anyone can be a rapper these days it seems like. No heart in it at all. chubby - You may be right, I really dunno who does what (but it is ironic TO ME that you specifically mention dipset. I'm growing some bagseed from brickweed scored from certified dipset fam..). I'm sure some of them still hustle, but as soon as they rap abut that shit, they become targets, and most rappers really aren't stupid, so they make 10x's the money talking bout it.

I mean look at Jay. He had the tightest, most diverse flow out there for years. He just started with biggie and some keithmurray/Erik O talkin to the mic type shit, then bit EVERYBODY'S style, but his twist on it and ROCKED it. I consider him one of the best, cause he has no signature flow/style, whatever.

Everybody looks at their music (in this case rap/hip-hop) a lil differently. What I like in rap is tight flows, and the more wordplay the better. To me, the best raps look like straight poems on paper, whether rhyming, or just spoken word.

EDIT - I just threw some random eminem playlist on, and while I bet he never punched a hooker in the mouth with a roll of quarters, I bet he did give some 17yr old chick WAY too many mushies 1 night. I had a girl eat 2 RETARDEDLY strong 'bubbletabs' I was eating them on the regular at the time, and 1/2 got me off, and 2 was 'safe place'. I've got Non-Phixion's 'The Future Is Now' and that shit's pretty tight. Ill Bill is a good suggestion...

And if you're looking for more light-skinned angsty-type hip-hop, give Atmosphere a try. 'God Loves Ugly' would be a good one to start with...
