Refrigerator grow

God wants me to grow weed. I realized it some time ago, driving home from work. Suddenly it was there on the ground... a 70 watts HPS that had fallen from the sky! Well, actually some idiot, or instrument of god, if you prefer, had driven his car into the pole and broken the lamp off. But the point is that is was there, and the lamp worked survived a 15 ft fall, even though the case was broken and the reflector had some dents.

Next step was to find a place to grow. So i gutted an old refrigerator to use as a grow closet. It got two separate rooms, one for mothers and vegging and one for flowering. Perfect.

(there was supposed to be some photos of the setup here, but for some reason i'm not allowed to include any images in my posts :wallbash: Anyway, i've uploaded the photos to icmag, so you can probably see them if you click on my profile or something)

The bottom is made to rotate the plants under the HPS, just as god made his earth rotate under the sun.

(again, the photos...)

In the upper part theres 6 CFL's, room for 12 plants and a bubble cloner. Theres also a small room for electronics, timers, air pump for the cloner n' stuff.

Do you like it? Any ideas for improvements?

Welcome to the club and to IC too. Cutting metal can be a pain but I'm always surprised we don't see more of these. Air tight, light tight, self explanatory appearance ....

Wish I'd have seen the NGB cab before I started. I might well have forgone the freezer in favor of a freezer/fridge as you did. I believe the magic number for pics in thread is 3 posts. Speaking of pics, could you rotate them before uploading so we don't have to crane our necks?

Free is free and you can't beat that but, you may want to consider a lamp in the 150-250 range. You'll be stunned by the increase in bud size and density.

Keep cool  FB

You're right God wanted you to grow pot! I feel the same way about me cuz my mom came home with clones from a friend and then I wanted to do a DrBud style cab but I wanted to use a dresser and that week I found a dresser a block away in a alley so I got my skateboard and put that bitch on and wheeled it home... He wants us all to grow our own!! Welcome to IC buddy and happy growing can't wait to see you get it going

Im seriously thinking the answer to all my problems is a fridge/freezer grow. I think im going to start searching the craigslist to see if I can find something cheap, really cheap.

Check your local pennysavers and yard sales. You'll often see them priced "free to a good home."

Another small thing to consider. While freezers have no top chamber for moms, they are required by law to have a built in lock. A padlocked fridge can raise eyebrows.

Hell yea it would raise eyebrows have neighbors thinking you eat people and store them in the fridge with childrens body parts and shit :fsu:

Hi again. Thanks for the replies. My fridge came free from a junkyard. Tossed it on my trailer and drove away. I might upgrade to a bigger lamp in the future, but for now i'm quite satisfied. And i don't want to grow more than i can smoke.

I'll come back tomorrow with some new photos. Rotated with better light and larger buds

BTW, i have been growing for several years, but this is the first time i do it indoors. I recently moved and got some new nosy neighbors.

Love the look of your fridge.

What did you use to cut through and attach stuff to the metal?

I didn' t do any cutting in the metal. Drilled some holes and mounted stuff with blind rivets. The hardest and most messy part was getting all the insulation foam out.

Anyway, i just harvested the first three plants.

I had some problems with the fan in the upper room and my seedlings dried out, so i don' t have new plants ready for flowering. Instead i'll try to turn the plants back to 18/6 and see if they will veg again.

Nice job buddy God did want to grow your own and he's sent me to tell you that your plant will veg again and should do fine here are some photos for inspiration...

This was from my first grow of some clones I got

Here she is a week after harvest starting to reveg

Another week later she's the one on the right and this is right before I tossed her into flower again

And here she is at week 5 of flowering with twice as much bud as the first time around :jump:

Hope that gives you some inspiration and Happy Growing!!!!

I just had to show you her what she looks like now at week 7 ^^^^^

That looks pretty impressive. And promising. I suppose i can take clones from the plants when they reveg? One of them had bigger and fatter buds than the two others, so i would like to use a clone from her as mother for the next generations.

If you didnt cut any metal what did you do about air vents and stuff?

When my shitty cab finally gives me too much hassle I definitely want to make a fridge grow room, but I want a much bigger bulb than a 70w so I'ma need some serious ventilation

The back of the fridge was made of plastic. I replaced it with plywood.
And there aren't any air ducts going outside, the air is just circulated inside. I have it in an uninsulated shed and it gets pretty cold where i live. Night and day cycles are reversed so the lamps heats it up at night.

17 grams. I guess it's just another reason to get working on my favorite hobby. The quality is, however, absolutely excellent! Not as dense and heavy as the outdoor ones i have grown for a couple of years, but a much higher high. More sativa like. The taste is harsh and bad, but they are not even fully dry. And i can fix that.

I think i can improve quite a lot in my next grow, with a better fertilizer plan and CO2. I'll save the most obvious, lights, for last, because i think it'll inspire me for getting other ideas for maximizing yield.
