Please reread the "Light Mounting" section on the first page.

The box has negative pressure and the blower acts as an exhaust as well as an air circulator.

thanks a bunch for the reply, so the conventional thinking that plants need to be within an inch or 2 of cfls at all times doesnt apply with this type of grow

That would be correct, you want the stretch so you leave them further away, the height at which you induce flowering is crucial for this method.

Great thread, but really hate to say it........it really looks like...you are in love with Dr Bud.

I know you are compacting all the info the good Doc has posted, but shouldn't that really be down to the original poster.

How old are you Haggis? Grow up, this is much easier for people to read than the hundreds and hundreds of posts in DrBud's threads.

He doesn't try to take credit for it, and it's very clear that he's summarizing somebody elses info they have presented, in a more organized manner.

eLiguL, Your summary is coming along nicely!
Some suggested additions:
Original grasscity forum thread: http://forum.grasscity.com/advanced...o-contact-grow-store-3-4oz-more-per-week.html
That's the first DrBud thread I'm aware of. Anyone have other articles or threads by DrBud? Someone mentioned that he followed DrBud's posts since "RUI"....what is RUI? another forum?

also, DrBud mentioned that he "spins" his plants every time he waters, so the plants receive light on all sides. Haven't heard anyone mention that.

Question: Instead of homemade chicken compost, could I use something else in the soil mix? I'm trying to copy his system as closely as I can, but don't have any chickens here in the city. I could get some pigeon shit easily enough though. Can anyone recommend a replacement for the chicken compost?

It really depends on what he feeds his chickens. I doubt pigeon poop will have the same nutritional content as chicken poop. I just did a quick google search and there were no conclusives on the exact nutritional composition on chicken waste, they were labelled by where the waste came from.

My source: Chicken Manure

This is exactly why I made the thread:

If you hover over the search link a box will populate and you should see "Advanced Search", click on it. It will open up a page and on the top left you should see "Search by Keyword" and below that a drop down menu that lets you choose "Search Entire Post" and "Search Titles Only", choose Search Titles Only and type in Magic. A few threads came up with a strain called Magic, im not sure which one you have. Good luck.

so are you basically stating that dr. buds keeps his new clones 2 feet from the cfl's when they first start? Was that question asked to dr. bud himself? That seems like a crazy big space to me, has anyone copied this exactly and shown that the plants can still grow? I am just hesitant to try it after seeing that pyramid image that shows that you only get like 1/4 of the lumens off a cfL from a distance. I believe it if the dr. says it so but it just seems so against everything I was told about cfl's in the past

well from my own experience with cfls and fresh foilage sometimes for smaller plants all that heat just isn't good. think of the 2ft as the equivalent of sunlight and a window sill

If you reread the "Light Mounting" section you will see he places his new clones on unused pots that are 5 inches tall for the first 5-7 days. After that, the pots are taken away and the clones are allowed to stretch into the light.

It's always hard to defy conventional wisdom but you have nothing to lose by trying it for yourself so that you can see the results.

your correct eligul and i will try it for myself to see but I am just very surprised, has anyone else had the same reaction as me, tried it, and then had the wanted/expected results? Im just curious, thanks for putting all the useful info in one spot also, makes things much easier after reading 100's of pages of posts.

I flowered my clones @ 2-4 inches and they stretched to about 9-13 inches. I am using a 250w HPS currently though, I cant comment on CFL's because ive never grown with them.

I decided to make this thread because I saw a need for it after skimming thru Dr.Bud's threads. Im just glad other people find it useful.

Great thread man, I always thought that Dr bud guy was kinda fraud, he seems to show the same pictures over and over.. but you seem to being using his style with good results. Maybe ill give him a lil more thought.

However much you think he's a fraud, his style works well. Maybe not to the numbers he claims, but there's nothing about it that's bad. He's got better buds than a lot of members here, so he's doing something right. He's got a lot to teach, you can catch him in chat a lot. I've learned several things that have improved my grow, and I don't grow in a similar style at all. There's a lot more to growing than the way you flower your plants.

Yea I've learned a lot from reading the Doc's thread and as much as ClownTown hates the youtube video it was that video that brought me here. ICMAG and DrBud have taught me everything I need to know to have a wonderful micro grow and I have used his style from my first grow and got the expected weight with less light so there's no way I would say it's a fraud just give it a try and do it right, you'll most likely get hooked on micro growing and have your own stash :rasta:

I know I did!!!!

EDIT: bit of info for non-US growers - The pop bottles the Dr uses are 600ml originally. I've not been able to find any 600ml bottles in the UK. We get 500ml bottles so we might need to look for spring water bottles(which might be better as a lot of them are square - less wasted space), etc. Either that or just alter the method slightly for the smaller bottles that stuff like Dr Pepper comes in.

KING SIZE pot noodle pots are perfect :tiphat:
