Scraping Resin from Aluminum Foil??

I smoked some good reefa from al.foil and have some of the resin stuck to it. Is there anyway i can scrape the black stuff from the foil without having to smoke the foil in my pipe with the resin? I found out that foil has a lot of chemicals so I want to separte the resin somehow. Anybody know how? I tried using a paper clip but it just rips up the foil. Thanks in advance. peace

yeh so I heard it is bad to smoke from foil...I know now :). I got a metal pipe to replace it. How do I get the resin off so I can smoke it in my pipe? Whew..last days of my hash burn out :D

Cooking with it is fine because you are not inhaling that actual smoke from it. Why do you think heroin smokers will burn the shiny layer off of the foil before they smoke it. Put a lighter right under a piece of foil and watch how much metal fumes come up from it. Once it is burned though you can smoke off of it. It will still taste like metal though.

Sorry I'll rephrase the question. Junkies LoL
What chemicals are produced?

It would be news to me that we would need to pre-heat our tin foil before we BBQ or wrap our vegetables in AF. We want that smoked flavour.

You dont, unless you are huffin the smoke from it....It is fine to cook with, not to burn, and inhale the fumes. Your digestive system, and your respritory system are very different.....

The smoke gets into the food wrapped in foil. You close the lid on the BBQ the smoke is absorbed by any other food on the grill.

What chemical is making the smoke you talk about?

Now that i think about it i am a glass blower and use pure silver and gold to fume my pieces. I would think that with foil you are actually fuming the tin or another straight metal off of the foil. Stuffed cook on the bbq in foil will taste like a hint of actual foil if you let the flame have direct access to the foil.

So no new chemicals are found when heated, is that what you're saying? The aluminum is now toxic itself....when heated?

I eat some gold leaf ever once in a while.

The fume itself i would not smoke is all i am saying. Eating metals is not going to hurt you. The smoke from metal will though. I will look up the tin industry and see what kind of health problems arise from making tin. Foil is just not meant to be smoked off of unless you are gonna smoke heroin because it is one of the only surfaces it will fume off. You also cant get a new chemical off of just burning something because the chemical would already have to be present or the bases of the chemical would already have to be present to be synthesized. The foil is only toxic man if you smoke the fumes off of it. Thats why i was saying you need to burn the shiny layer off first.

I have no idea, that is why I would consider it a bad idea to inhale it.......

Don't let fear ruin a good BBQ. You can't google an answer btw there's none made. LoL
I've made many a toilet paper roll chillums & poking holes in foil in my days.
You put the shiny side in so as not to deflect the heat when cooking.

Nah hell no foil is great to cook fish. Oh and cant forget about them baked potatoes yummy.

From what I can gather about aluminum, prolonged esposure to pure aluminum, or the inhalation of aluminum dust, fragmets, or fumes, is highly toxic to humans.... What makes aluminum foil safe to cook with is that it is anodized before it is sold, which increases hardness in order to decrease flaking or chipping, and increase the melting point of aluminum to roughly 1200 degrees F. All of this combined makes the aluminum foil of today much safer than the aluminum foil of the 70's supposedly. The problem with using it as a pipe or screen, or anything to smoke off of would be that you are constantly heating and cooling the foil, making it more fragile and prone to flake......

Oh, no fear will ruin a BBQ for me, and I suggest you continue to enjoy them as well, but please, keep the foil out of smoking devices from now on...... If not for heath reason then for the sake of the bud..It likes to be tasted.

So no luck eh on any direct answer to the question(s). Aluminum foil is what we're talking about & the chemical it releases when heated or so we're being fed. People burn foil all the time on the BBQ & leave it on until they end up picking pieces out of their food. I'm glad Reynolds has improved the products since than the 70's most here aren't that old.

If people are not smart enough to know that if you keep using the same foil screen you'll end up swallowing the load than too bad for them. Replace your foil often as you change your rubbers & don't eat the stuff but there's no Chemical produced when heating aluminum foil or some mysterious toxic smoke aka fume.
