oaktron ppm pen eatting batts

hey guy i got a oaktron ppm meter i had for 3 years and this is the second time i put new batts in it and in 2 days there dead cost me 23 dollars for batts and i don't know why it eating them up like this. has anyone had problem like this. i cant afford to spend this kind of money on bats and to make things worse i am in week 4 iof flowing now and i am running blind. i quess it time for a new meter but hell that will take a week or more to get one here. any ideas on what to do. so far looks like i got fert burn going on and no way i can check my ppm as of now and as far as pen go any one have any idea on whats a better pen than a oak tron is there any meter that take less than 4 batts and hopefully not then high dollar watch batts or if it the watch batts just normal cheap batts

Well I do not know what your meter problem is, but batteries are cheap at walmart, 3 for about five bucks m/l.

Like Hap said Walmart. If you can't find them there, try pH strips. They're little paper strips that change color to tell you the pH or you can get a liquid test kit but those can be tricky if your nutes are real dark colored.
