New Seeds Started and More EPxNL Finishing, Rubbermaids w/ 220w of CFL's!

Hello to all my ICMAG friends, Old and New!

Welcome to my next thread of fun and growing! Please feel free to give feedback, advice, pics, or any other good posts. I love leaving reputation for anyone who has something good to add to any thread. So please try and fill mine in, so it's not just me rambling and posting pics. Hahaha!

The scoop! I haven't been around all summer, so I will try and let you all know where I am at right now.

I am using 4x42 watt 2800k bulbs and 2x26 watt 6500k bulbs for a total of 220watts.

Container is the same as last grow, I am using the kitty litter box as one big unity pot for FOUR plants. (about 5 gallons of Fox Farm Ocean Forest w/ Perlite and Dolimite Lime mixed in) All the same strain, Early Pearl x Northern Lights.

The plants are one revegged mother and her three clones. All four plants were severly abused because someone didn't come and pick up there clones they asked for and that is how I ended up with more EPxNL. I did not intend to grow this strain out again, but the plants just kept on living through long droughts and being very root bound in small containers after like three months I just decided to repot them and finish them out.

So here we are now at DAY 17 Bloom. I flipped the lights on the first of august so I could easily remember being such a big stoner. LOL. :joint:

The FOOD, Same ol, Liquid Karma, and Pure Blend Grow and Bloom.

I feed very light because I keep having some problems. My leaves are all different colors, light green, normal green, very dark green, and even yellow w/ burnt spots. :cuss:

I feed every other watering so once a week usually. During veg I used some superthrive. I was only using 2-3ml of Grow w/ 3ml Karma through veg. Then when I flipped I used a mix of 2ml grow, 2ml bloom, 3ml karma for first two feedings. Today I fed first round of 2.5ml Bloom/3ml Karma nutes.

My pH, I have been testing it because my water starts out at 8.7, then I bubble it for a day or two which takes it to 7.5 every time. Then I add nutes if its feeding time or I just pH adjust it if it's plain water. My last water feed was fed at 6.2pH and my runoff was 7.0pH. Today's feed I dropped the pH down to 5.5pH and my runoff was 6.6pH.

These numbers seem good, my temps are always around 70-72 at soil level and a little higher up near the buds.(73-78) These numbers seem good too???

I AM CONFUSED, so have a look and tell me what you THINK!

These pics show the new top colas starting and some Burnt Tips!

The problems start here with all the shades of green and yellow!

The leaves are always pointing up???

I will be putting some of these pics in the Infirmary, so please don't have a fit anyone, just need some good advice on my problems. You would think after like 5 full grows that I would have all the answers. :asskick:

Well thanks for any help in advance and thank you for stoppin bye. I will be updating regularly especially once my new seedlings pop up. I will do another thread to list the strains I'm doin this next grow.! :rasta:

LATER!

Hiya!

I'm not familiar with the nutes you're using (me UK), but looking at the pics I would say the plants look like they are begging for food... lower leaf yellowing usually means a nitrogen deficiency. The leaves pointing upwards can be a result of lack of magnesium.

Your plants look like they would benefit from slightly warmer temps too...will help growth and go some way to prevent lockout. Do you let the tray dry out at all? In compost, your plants feet don't like to be kept soggy, especially with cold temps.

When growing organically in compost I usually don't bother with ph adjustment....it really should buffer itself. One less thing to worry about!

I hope that is more helpful than confused!!

Good luck :)

Ps first post on here...High!!

hey there mr. mnky, I noticed that your plants look just like mine, some yellow leaves and then some are darker and so on, my leave tips are pointing up also, this is only happening with my deep chunk though, my other strains are fine. plus my DC is the only indica i have, all the sativas are thriving. I am using the (energy eficient sun)lol.
anyways if you pinpoint the prob, let me know. I like the idea of one pot for all of them though, I have been wanting to do that, do you think there is any downside to that? post more pix when you can, I wanna watch this grow..peace fellow MJ grower.

Hello Blackfoot, thanks for stopping! I love it when I get two very different opinions on what the problem is. I am glad you raised the idea of lower ppm, but then like Organic Grinder said, maybe I am underfeeding, that is why the fan leaves are lighter in color and then they curl up and brown to death? I dunno?

Thanks Organic Grinder for stoppin and Congratz on your first post in TWO years. wow that is a long time to keep your thoughts to yourself.

So I definitely put a couple spoon fulls of dolomitic lime in my soil mixture about 5 weeks ago when I transplanted all these girls into the litter box I use. I thought that dolomite lime was supposed to take care of Magnesium and calcium issues with a constant slow release???

So is Cal-Mag better to use than dolomite lime or do they serve different purposes?

Thanks Jonathanvpr for stoppin by, I am not intending on putting a lot of pics up about this current grow because it is identical to my last grow, which you can read up on if you follow the link in my signature. This thread is dedicated to fixing my problems with these leaves and the beginning of the new strains I am trying to germ right now. Which I will be taking lots of pics of the new strains.

The one pot thing seems to work, it is shallow but not too shallow, for inside a rubbermaid setup. Just make sure you put plants that are about the same size in there or one will just over power the rest. And probably the same strain will make it easier to feed. I think the advantage is more vertical growth room in my box and the plants think they are in a much bigger pot than they actually are. So that should give a bigger yeild.

This next grow will be at least 5 different strains, so I will not be using the solo pot method. I am looking into some square pots.

Well thanks guys for stopping by, I hope you catch the end of all this! See ya round.

whats up DM420! ya i def think calmag would help those plants out a bunch. also maybe try giving them a little more nutes, i think they can take a bit more than 2.5ml of pbp, maybe try atleast 5ml next feeding if you have the calmag by then. keep us updated!

DAY 24 BLOOM

DAY 24 BLOOM

Hello everybody, I gots a little update for us all on my problems and my progress.

Welcome tngreen to my thread, I definitely need to feed them some more!

Welcome dude06version, I think your probably right, but I think there is a slow release of cal/mag into the soil, just not enough to keep em happy.

As you all know I am having issues, that I have been working on to try and make it through and get some nice buds. I have come to the conclusion of underfeeding and maybe lack of cal/mag/ and some other micro nutes.

In order to try and correct this, I started by trying to limit my possibilities. I bought new nutes, PBP bloom soil, grow, karma, cal/mag, clearex all by botanicare. Cal/Mag+ and Clearex are on their way, shop didn't have them, so I had to order from online. I also stopped the use of tap water. I bought 5 gallons spring water, pH of 7.3. I moved my grow from the basement (70-72 degrees), to the upstairs bedroom (77-85 degrees) hoping that if my temps were low, they would not be now.

Now that I did all those things, I fed them last night as my soil was pretty dry from the last feeding on 8/17. I normally don't feed back to back, but my lack of nutes needs to be addressed and the peeps helping told me to do it, do it.

I fed them 5ml soil bloom, 6ml grow, 5ml Karma, and a teaspon of epsom salt mixed in 1 gallon of spring water. pH started at 7.3 and dropped to 5.5 after added nutes. I then checked the runoff came out at 6.7. I am hoping this is good, because I didn't use any pH down this time around. That was another factor I was trying to eliminate, by not using pH down any more!!!

Through this week of changes I have noticed that my purple/redish stems have been slowly gaining green stripes back and most new grow at bud sites, the stems are nice and green. As for the leaves they keep dying and haven't changed from yellow to green and probably won't. But only time will tell.

I have taken a few pics to show what has been going on:

Bud shots:

Then some lower and side branch shots:

I zoomed in and cropped one for ya:

So, things could be worse, but I am worried a bit about how many fan leaves have died, are dying, and probably will die before harvest. I just hope these things fatten up a bit, cause they are all pretty small in my book. I am planning to let them go until around 55-60 days or as soon as they turn amber colored and get fat! I say a little less than half way considering that the seed supplier recommends 45-50 day finish times. Last grow I cut some at 45, 55, and 65 just to see the difference and I really couldn't tell except the 45 day stuff was probably too early. But the very first time I did this strain she was done in 50 days according to the crystals.

:jump: GOOD NEWS: I have three little seedlings that popped up above the soil yesterday! 2 are a strain that I created from my RUNT PLANT hermied just a little bit before I cut her, and my Hot Pink Sativa that normally goes 12-15 weeks obviously got a little pollen and I ended up with 9 good seeds off her last winter. The other seed came from a friend that told me it was Trainwreck x Diesel. The bud my friend smoked with me that night was so so tasty and strong! So lets hope for some girls!!!

I also bought some coco and some 1 gallon grow bags for my 6th grow, which will be added to this thread. I figure I can't grow in one container w/ all different strains and I obviously am having some trouble doing it now. I have always wanted to try coco, so I hope I do good as I have no idea what coco entails. I read a lot of feeding.

Sorry so long, but got lots to tell!

Nice thread bro... I always check out the cfl grows, I'm going to get into breeding this winter specifically for micro growers that use cfl's for lighting and see if I can get some good strains to give out to my IC buddies... Keep up the good work! :joint:

Just a little update! 4 Weeks Bloom

Just a little update! 4 Weeks Bloom

Thanks for stoppin Thurdurkel, glad you like, I am hoping for something real good out of my new seeds.

So I got a few pics of my girls blooming, now that it is 4 weeks into this grow. I also took a couple shots of my new seedlings.

It seems that my girls are getting healthier. I had to water them again today, which is normal after 3 days. But most waterings/feedings in this grow, the soil stayed wet for 6-7 days before it dried out. The leaves seem to have stopped dying off as fast as they were. The leaves are a little greener. I am sure the ones that are very yellow will continue to brown up and die off, but I think it has slowed. I also have noticed the buds are starting take shape and fatten up.

Have a look for yourself:

Group Shot, w/ flash and w/out flash:

Now the NEW seedlings:

Pink Sativa x The RUNT from my first grow ever, I got these seeds from two females. Hopefully they will be females together too.

A gift from a friend:
Trainwreck x Diesel I smoked from the bag this seed came from and wow was I fucked up! I think he knows someone who produces this stuff locally, so I am excited for some good genetics. Looked and Tasted AMAZING!

Thanks for stoppin!
