What is the purpose behind using hygrozyme/cannazyme?

Thanks DH, that sounds a bit more realistic. I appreciate your contribution. So...anyone else have a comment re the Zymes??? (I better get this thread back on topic haha)

I've been using Hygro and Canna-zymes for 2 years now (in coco) and love the results. Just wonderin' how long I can keep 'em on the shelf...

Taken from the link above:

" With HYGROZYME though, there are NO concerns of a limited shelf life or spoilage."

I personally love the stuff and will definately buy it again.

thanks for he headsup nano, I must read the label (between the lines) again and pay attention this time :bashhead:
Yeah! I'm using it right now and will continue so--until it gets more expensive than oil....... :cuss: Hang on, it IS more expensive than oil...

Depends what they define as "limited." 12 to 18 months sound about right. The enzyme won't all go bad all at once but more and more active units will lose activity. So a bottle that is a year old will have a lot less activity than a new one.

a cool dark place. a year is optimal for enzymes . chlorine wil kill a floating turd and piss in a pool ,and hiv bac thats why it burns your eyes when you go to a public pool. enzymes only want to work ween they don't want you to buy more TP. depends on the enzymes, catpiss or the shit (mr nice) . bleach on.

chlorine evaporates, chloramine does not. if your water company uses chloramine, you will have to filter the water.

yup! from my understanding chlorine is pretty much depleted by the time it hits the flosset, this applies even more to your water hose outside! I learned this on the gardening channel, they were doing a bit on brewing beneficial tea's.

organic matter turns chloromine into chlorine. add a handful of wormcasting to your bubbling water to get rid of both.

I need soemthing to break up old roots when reusing my coco. Would hygrozyme or GH sub-culutre be better? Hygrozyme is really expensive, sure I wouldn't use it every watering? Or how do I use it for my needs?

Its the other way around... adding chlorine to organic matter can sometimes form chloromine.

Actually, chloromine has a tendency to convert organic materials into chlorocarbons, some of which are carcinogenic.

The reason Chloromine and free Chlorine are added to your tap water is to kill organisms, and they are not compatible with organic media.

"Chloramine can be removed from tap water by treatment with 10 ppm or more of free chlorine. Hypochlorous acid from the free chlorine strips the ammonia from the chloramine, and the ammonia outgasses from the surface of the water. This process takes about 24 hours for normal tap water concentrations of a few ppm of chloramine."

The second quote is summarized from wikipedia; im not really familiar with removing chloromine from tap water.
