multiple strains in 1 DWC tub?

What do you guys think? prolly a bad idea right? considering each plant eats differently. I am just wondering if anyone has had success doing that.

Bad idea. every strain is different, even plants of the same strain can exhibit different phenos. the only thing I'd ever suggest in one tub, is multiple clones off of the same plant, cause they will be genetic matches.

Yes I tried different strains in one tub, it did not work out well.

damn, figured as much. oh well! i guess i'll just keep doing what i know works ;) I really wanted to have multiple mums to choose from and it just so happens i am cursed when it comes to soil. lol

Anyone ever tried using straight Hydroton + drip?

Mista - one idea for your mums, use separate DWC buckets. That's what I've been doing, and it's pretty easy to setup as well as keep it going. Cost me about $18 per mum (bucket, lid, airhose, pump)

If you are only doing two or three plants it can work, but I do not do as well with more than two. Some folks do make this work though, it is possible.

I thought about doing that, the only issue is that each bucket needs a separate chiller. My room is not temp regulated, so in summer the solution would be far too warm, and too inviting of root rot.

Okay, well i just had an idea... Tell me if this works:

What if i drop a whole package of seeds and veg them all in teh same tub? Are multiple phenotypes from the same strain going to eat drastically different? or is this a good idea too (assuming i isolate the males asap. )

after reading the post it sounds like you are wanting to veg moms in the same DWC not flower them?

if your just vegging moms you should be OK it would be when flowering it would be a prob... i run a 1 gallon drip system for my moms 3 strains 9 bucket same rez.... ever 4-6 months i transplant them into 5 gallon buckets and flower them with a "waterfarm" i try'd in a 10 gallon rubbermade with 6 first and all the root's got mixed and i had to cut the lid to even get them out so i switched to 1 gallon buckets

It is possible to flower two strains in the same tub but I wouldnt recommend it.

Multiple strains can be done in DWC. Just don't plan to transplant them as the roots will become incredibly tangled. Be sure to use humic/fulvic acid to prevent deficiencies between the different nutritional needs of each plant and do TONS of training so each plant gets relatively even light coverage.

Jack, can you elaborate a little on humic/fulvic acid? is it DWC friendly? how much should i be putting in? Do you have any brands of humic/fulvic that you recommend? Thanks! :)

monocropping is easier, but I can't add anything beyond what JK posted. You can grow plants of entirely different species in the same dwc tub (eg., pepper and tomato). Full strength nutes are full strength nutes. Plants adapt well.

It's great stuff that prevents deficiencies because it chelates nutrients. A couple great products are Liquid Karma and Floralicious. DWC is the only system I would use it in, as it clogs sprayers and drippers if it falls out of the solution. For Floralicious, I use 1/8 tsp. per gallon and 1 tsp. per gallon of Liquid Karma. Both of them have other goodies in them too.

I'm chopping a grow later this week that has involved two strains in a single DWC system, and I would not recommend it at all. I did it because of factors out of my control, so this is the first time it's come up for me. My PH and TDS drifted a lot more than usual as the two strains consumed nutrients and water at different rates. Differences in plant hight made arranging plants under the light a headache. The end result looks to be four white widows that have been over fed and four sugar shivas that have been under fed. Neither of them, I'm sure, will be as high yielding, potent, or tasty as they ought to have been.

Oh, also, different flowering times make flush a pain in the ass. It's a bad idea, but it's possible.
