Do the hairs (pistils) contain any thc?

I had to harvest some plants early with alot of white hairs.. and now they are all dried and red and the buds are very harsh. Can I pluck these hairs off now or am I wasting thc that way?

Hairs are pistils. Pistils collect pollen and deliver it to the ovaries to make seeds. The only reason the plant produces resin (and thus THC) is so pollen will stick to the pistils. You bet they have THC. If your pistils are THC free, I'd throw everything out. Maybe try making hash or cannabutter.

No I dont want to smoke them.. I'm trying to find an excuse not to. This crop had to be chopped early and is in general, pretty f'd up. The smoke does have a nice brain buzz but is just really harsh. I thought all the red hairs everywhere were contributing to the harshness. Maybe I will just hash it up. Thanks for the response,

Can we ask about your curing methods? Did you flush? Did you dry as slow as possible? Did you throw them in the oven?

I flushed them about 2 weeks too early.. organic soil grow.. then kept them going for a few more weeks and added more nutes. By then, some of the buds looked great and some had a lot of dead leaves in the bud. I went ahead and cut them because I needed the space for the next batch. I hung them up to dry for a few days, then put them in jars. I might have jarred them a few days early but have been opening them 20 - 30 minutes every day for the last 2 weeks. By now they are mostly dry but still very harsh.

This was my first grow so I'm not too worried about the bud as long as the next crops are better.. which I'm sure they will be.

make some cannabutter with them. i just did this with a male plant that had vegged for 2 months before showing some balls and im pretty high off them right now. a female plant would be even better.

I admit to preferring water cures so, my expertise on jar cures is limited. Sounds like plants were still full of nutes. I don't think you "cured" at all as much as you kinda', sorta' dried it out. Try hanging for a couple of weeks, followed by a couple of weeks in paper bags and then moving on to the jars for a month or three. The faster the weed is ready to smoke, the hotter it will burn.

I'm still learning how to do all this.. but if i hang them for more than a week they will be crispy dry before they even make it to the bags. Drying environment is like 80 - 85F, 40 - 50% humidity.

just because they are crispy on outside doesn't mean they are dry throughout. the inside of buds and stems can still contain moisture. study numerous curing methods on these boards and go from there

if they still feel to moist, toss them in paperbags left open for a day or two. maybe three. stir in bags at least once a day. then re-jar them and burp once a day. the harshness will go away as the chlorophyll finishes breaking down over the next 4-6 weeks or so.

or

water cure them as others have suggested. this will smooth out the smoke and even better, be done within 7 days.

I am sorry to say, but thc has absolutely nothing at all to do with pollen collection. If that were the case, all plants would contain thc. It is actually thought to benefit the plant from the elements, insects, moisture resevoir etc. Pollen lands on the pistols is true, but the thc production has nothing to do with fertilization... THC in smaller amounts is contained in males and they don't need to be pollinated, they release it.

Darlin' if the stash is still harsh after curing, I'd go with a water cure. Only takes a week or less, depending on how fussy you are. Run a search- water curing is easy to do!- Granny

you know despite my high standards, other people didn't seem to mind the harshness as much. so most of it is gone now anyways :D

my next batch smells so good at canopy level.. it's like fresh dank.

I never said it did. Resin is used for pollen collection, it just so happens that this is where the majority of THC resides.
