A couple of my friends do it, not sure if it helps or makes things worse (freezer burn)? I keep mine in a mason jar in the spice cabinet.

Another vote for the mason jar in the spice cabinet, but an even more enthusiastic vote for a CASE of mason jars stuffed behind a bit of loose insulation in a cool corner of the cellar :D

Just remember if you store your herb in the freezer, don't agitate it while it's frozen, and let it come FULLY to room temperature before opening the jar- otherwise, airborne water vapor will condense on the surface of the weed and result in an OH NOES! moment.

It doesnt ever stick around long enough to warrant freezing for me. I have kept the same buds in jars for close to a year and didnt notice any loss in potency. The flavor seemed to degrade minutely, but the potency was there. Never held onto anything longer than say 9-9 1/2 months though. If I hold onto a stash that long I usually will swap it out with fresher nugs and smoke the golden oldies.

How bout the crisper in the fridge(in a mason jar)?
I use the spice cabinet too, but id switch if its better to keep it cool or somethin...

I keep my buds in jars in a frost-free freezer. I've never experienced condensation. I just pull a jar out of the freezer and take a bud out as needed. There's no need to defrost. It's immediately smokable. I recently pulled a 5-year old seeded bud out of the freezer and decided to germinate the seeds as an experiment. 8 out of 10 seeds germinated within 24 hours. I suspect the others would have sprouted if I had soaked them longer. I've kept buds fresh as long as 10 years. They tend to become a little dry after awhile, but I highly recommend the freezer for long-term storage.

I had a bumper harvest and I let it dry for 7 days and vacuumed it and put it into the freezer. Took out a bag let it dry and started curing it in a jar.

2 years later I still had weed that nobody could distinguish form a havest a few months old.

Huh, never thought about doing it like that.

I gotta say I LOVE my vacuum sealer. Damned rolls of bags are expensive but they are worth it for long term storage.

thought this one was worth bumping considering the time of year it is.......

opinions? I know it's a yes or no issue but explaining any reasons might help others here.

i also store my weed in the freezer , i don't cure since it never goes well cuz i always got a large outdoor harvest with all different strains at different points

I am experimenting this year and just as greens recommened i put a frisian in the freezer at 12 days dry when the stem just snapped but the"flesh" was still sticky.

And it came out just the same . I use ironing bags that i cut and iron into smaller bags. And then i put that in a freezer baggie , i really stuff the ironing bags.

They always come out a bit drier than going in. After 2 days in a ziplock after they come out of the freezer the moisture is redistriibitued so it becomes as moist as before. Smell/taste stays the same , nice and fresh and can get better cuz they are packed and soaked in their own smell.

Curing IMHO is better , but i like the smell of fresh herb more. Plus i always got large harvests outdoor and curing so many jars all at different points is annoying/difficult so i freeze . And yes you can cure after freezing but i don't bother. Sometimes though i find a forgotten baggy in a mason jar.

I alway store for multiple years. My harvest mostly lasts me 1.5 years.

Point is they need to be at a good/tasty point before freezing , my 2008 harvest was much too dry and after you take if out of the freezer it needs 5-6 days in a ziplock baggy or jar to become tasty again

Reasons : easy , stays fresh , you can cure afterwards , no mold can form , good for large harvests(for personal use ,or better said , when it doesnt fly out the door:D)

best way i have seen in winter was in the attic of my garage
my friends keep it outside in sheds, etc anywhere that isnt heated really
freezer is nearly as good, but the moisture sucks

i like putting them in a jar well cured in a cool dark place, freezing the trichomes makes them brittle and prone to break off, they do make plastic jars that you can vacuum out the air for longer storage, i think the cure and the flush is key here

Just dont shake the frozen weed around too much. the crystals will end in the back.
Some claim there is an increase in potency, but I doubt it?

(Sorry, two minds one thought...didn't see your post)

i haven't noticed increased potency but i sure have noticed it getting a smoother taste in the freezer atfer a long time.(if it isnb't too dry going in) , prolly cuz it is packed and locked in its own smell , when you open a pack the smell shoots out.

but when you take the buds out and let wait a day before you open them the trichs have thawed and don't break

I wish I had so much that I was able to talk about 5 year old bud lol

I don't know if I would ever grow enough to store for a year ever BUT who knows there could be a heaven and in my mind it would involve me having so much smoke I needed to think of long term storage tactics like these.
