can we stop mold before it starts?

Hi everyone

Greencure has been available at http://www.megagro.com/megagro_faq.htm

It's very effective against mould and makes mould a non issue for cannabis growers. No one should ever loose a crop to mould with these products available. I live in tobacco country and became familiar with it as tobacco also moulds. They won't harm you or the plant. It kills powdery mildew on contact. I application and PM is gone.

Brad, it should be available in canada. Do some searching and Im sure you'll find a source. Supersonic found a source for it in Europe, so Im sure its availabe in canada as well.

BlackBart, I apply a dose of GC after flowering begins but before the notches of the branches get hidden, usually about 15 -21 days so that there is some of the solution inside the bud where mould is hidden and often starts. After that, it really depends on bud density and rainfall, humidity. Usually i put the initial dose on and then another on about the 5th or 6th week and then another about 10 days before harvest. This regimine would be for a strain highly succeptable to mould. Many strains I just put 1, ititial dose before the branches are closed off to keep mould from getting inside the bud. Sometimes during processing, even though you didn't see any mould on the plant, you find that it was inside the bud.

If mould is seen it should be applied immediately as it will kill the active mould on contact and keep it from spreading to any other part of the plant.

let's not forget about foliar feeding with compost teas. Compost and compost teas have long been known to prevent harmful organisms attack your plant. It also does great things to the soil and to the overall health of your plant.

Also, as for PM, you want to use skim milk that has the fat removed. There's also a product called Serenade that works quite well against PM.

I work for a vineyard company, and we spray an organic sulfur/water solution on our vines to prevent mold and mildew. I imagine calcium is similar in effects. Someone also said potassium right?

Hey SB
I saw Green Cure in my local grow shop. It was in a small jar/container maybe a pint. I plan on buying it.

My question is have you ever stored yours and used it for next season? Does it stay viable?

The reason I ask is I am sure it is not flying off the shelves at the grow shop and has probably been there a while collecting dust and I would have to believe it is still good. What do you think?

Yes milk works, but whole milk not anything else, and lol, soy milk won't do. Diluted of course but it must be applied weekly. I use Serenade and neem oil too. Lost a major crop to it once, never again. I believe milk inhibits its growth by changing the leaves ph. Tent it and run a sulphur burner, lol.

Hey hamstring
I used my last jar of greencure for 3 years. It worked as well on the 3rd year as it did the first. As long as it's kept dry, it will last for years i would suppose, I know 3.

In fact, a small jar last me about 3 years as some strains don't need it unless conditions really turn sour. I usually use about 2-3 gallons of mix per year and I would gues there's 15 gallons of mix per jar.

Somewhere in the foggy recesses of my brain that recipe struck a very familiar chord for mold prevention. Can't remember when or on what, only that it was a long time ago, and it worked. I'd think that adding a dash of sticker/surfactant to the mix would make it more effective.

I'm by no means organic, but most fungicides scare me as pretty nasty stuff.

Ounce of prevention always worth a pound of cure. If your stealth index allows, increasing air movement and circulation around the plant by removing nearby vegetation often makes mold and fungus less of a problem.

Kaligreen seems to be a much better deal than Greencure. We are getting soaked in Maine so the auto flowering and very early strains need the Potassium bicarbonate already.

Eco Rose is another brand out of Australia...and if you can order simple Potassium Bicarbonate that will work as long as you you use a surfactant.
