Randy Pausch ("The Last Lecture" Professor) Passes Away

Hey all,

This might be my second time posting in the Toker's Den...

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iVMbTmjBpuVU_AtNaGBjoMltC7LgD92556GG0

I had never known anything about the man until I read an article about is death today. Out of curiosity, I tracked down the lecture and saw that it was over an hour long.

I was going to give it five minutes of my time. After thirty minutes, I knew I was going to watch the whole thing. After the second head fake, I was crying.

Do you feel like this man's ability to face his imminent death and speak in such an elegant manner will help you? Others?

I'm not trying to make this "last lecture" seem extraordinary. It is simply a man talking about achieving his childhood dreams in an awkward/illuminated state.

I would just like to see what others think of his situation. Hope everyone has a nice day  .

Here is an article written by a Wallstreet Journal writer who attended the lecture and ghost wrote Randy's book.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120951287174854465.html

"In 70 minutes onstage, he gave his audience reasons to reconsider their own ambitions, and to find new ways to look at other people's flaws and talents. He celebrated mentors and protégés with an open heart. And through a few simple gestures -- including a birthday cake for his wife -- he showed everyone the depth of his love for his family. In his smiling delivery, he was so full of life that it was almost impossible to reconcile the fact that he was near death -- that this performance was his goodbye."

Thanks for linking his lecture. What was your opinion on the matter?

I have seen 98% "Wow"

and 2% "Hate"
from the responses left on youtube.

I just can't see why there is even that 2%

Haha yukon, I was glad to see that you responded. I knew it was going to be entertaining no matter what.

Cliff notes:

- Pancreatic Cancer
- Lecture not about: religion, cancer
- How to live your life: Do good, Karma will do the rest
- Brick walls let you show how much you care.
- Essentially his "last lecture". It was his goodbye to his coworkers and a lesson for his children.

In no way can a stoned person put it together as eloquently as Randy, so if you ever get bored - it is worth the watch.
