i had 5 plants under a single 600W HPS. vegged for about a month. i still cant find that damn flashdrive! its here somewhere.
i found a couple seeds in my Pure Kush, threw em in a wet paper towel, and this morning i found a lovely surprise. i didn't think they looked quite mature enough, but one of them has sprouted!
the catch is, my landlord is showing my place in a week from today. so what do i do?
obviously i grow them. i put the sprouted seed in a peat puck. now i just have to rig up a stealth to the max home for the little pure kush sprout. but thats for another thread.
well koop, i must say, letting them go longer was a spot on suggestion. and i thank you. since it was my first try, i was antsy to chop dry, and start smoking. thanks to your advice, i got a bit of patience, and the wait was/is well worth it in this case. i found the tastiest harvest to be at 75 days 12/12.
any ideas on some potent short flowering time strains for next run? or is that like... too good to be true? im not too concerned about yield. just potency and taste. i was looking at sensi's hash plant for a while but after reading into it i decided not to invest the money. any others?

hey retawgnob thanks for checkin out my grow. as for essential advice... get a digital pH pen first thing. and a ppm pen would eliminate a LOT of the guessing games first timers experience as far as figuring out how much/how far along when it comes to nutrients and feeding.
im still working on it. had a number of issues with nute burn/defficiencies/lockout. if i could go back i would have flushed my pots every 3 weeks just to make sure i didnt have any lockouts. because im fairly certain by putting in too much of one thing you can lock out the uptake of another....
but again... a ppm/ec pen thing from your hydro store will save you from doing a lot of guessing.
when you have to add something like 3.2 mL to a gallon, its easy to overdo things.
but yeh. i plan on writing up a post to prospective growers from the viewpoint of having just finished my first grow successfully.
all comments/criticizms are more than welcome. thanks everyone!

can too much Nitrogen in the flowering cycle lead to extra leafy bud like you can see in the pics? the buds is dank indeed, but trimming sure was a pain. i know nycd is supposed to have a much higher calyx to bud ratio....but my buds grew more leaves than i wanted them to.
Could too much N in flowering cause the plant to continue leaf production instead of focusing on the flower? Any idea as to how i can get my calyx/leaf ratio up? I'm not a grower looking for yield, just the dankest of the dank.

Easy Nathindica. What a very beautiful plant ya had there, and no doubt they all smoke good! Good on ya cobber!
I understand that too much N during flowering does cause excess leaf. But some N is needed along the way.
Not to sound anal Nathindica but from experience, i'd suggest that you're better off to veg for longer (especially as you have a 600 watt). I'd say at least 6-8 weeks to really benefit from all that light. And also LST, as this does'nt slow down growth, just spreads the love all over the plant and gives you multiple colas i.e.
These two girls were vegged outdoors for 3 months (12 weeks) and trained .Then put in a shed under 1 x 250 Watts. I got 3 1/2 Oz off each plant proper dry weight. Notice that there are about 10-12 cola tops on the yellow girl.
With a 250 watt i only flower the top 12-18 Inches. All the fluff at the bottom ain't worth it, so i cut this off. Considering that the light does'nt penetrate beyond 18 Inches (as the canopy blocks light).
I'd also say you can grow up to 4ft square area, so you could get 9 fairly bushy gals under that 600 watt, if vegged for 6ish weeks.
Please don't take this as an anal-negative-approach. Practise makes perfect, but then again i'v been growing for 6 years and still manage to fuck up.
You won't be wrong in purchasing a Blue Lab Truncheon (ppm ec) or a Ph pen.
And less is more as far as i'm concerned with regards to nutes. You can add, but you can't take away. I'd rather under feed, see the sign's of slight defeicency, then give the plants a good feed.
This time next year you could be pulling 12 Oz +.
