CFL SCROG

who does it? I read in the grow bible that SCROG was invented/intended to maximize flourescent output.

would it be possible to achieve 8-10k lumens from cfls only mounted overhead?

Im thinking of 42w 2700 range , 2800 lumen cfls.

I'm also thinking of not using pots and just having a tray of soil as you would have in a garden... not a good idea?

Definitely possible to achieve 8-10k lumens, either using several of those 42w bulbs or using just a couple say.. 85 watters which give off 4200-5500 lumens (depending on which type of bulb you choose). And a thing to remember when doing a tray grow is if something's wrong with one plant odds are there's gonna be something wrong with all of the plants (ie: overwatering, nute burn, bugs). but it's still possible, no doubt. good luck bro!

I just don't want any lights on the side panels

I either want them all hanging down or some hanging down and some on the side of a "box lid lip" pointing towards the center.

a 9square foot area with 10k lumens would be 32 x 42 watts
at 8k 25 x 42 watts

How much are those 85 watts and where do I get them and what spectrum are they?

I thought you only needed 10k lumens in a 9sq ft area.
you know what your needs are better than me bro, so now that you know where to get the bulbs and stuff.. good luck! and yes SCROG would be possible, easily. dr.budgreengenes has a sick CFL SOG setup, all you gotta do is throw a screen in there and you got SCROG. good luck mate.

a meter squared area would be 10 feet at 10k lumens per foot thats 40 bulbs

I might do a 2.5x2.5 area which is 6.25 square feet or 22 bulbs at 10k lumens or 18 at 8k

ill figure out a setup soon I`m not sure how a 1m2 cfl scrog would preform... thats 1600 watts of power and a lot of wiring.... cfls aren`t worth it if you don`t crush the gpw... imo.

grow beds do alright but like what was said earlier, if one plant has a problem most likely all the plants will face the same problem. But worked great for me in my tight space.

As you can see as well i was working with bagseed so i ended up gettin a sativa that ate up all the grow space leaving little room for my ind. dominant strains. But this does work half way decent, although flushing can be a problem when you have other plants that need to be fed. I went organic so it wasnt a terrible problem, the bud came out tasty.

peace
