What's new

possible root rot, SM 90 or hygrozyme?

I dont have a pic, I will try to get one later tonight.

E&F table with 200 SOG plants

Northern Lights Strain

200 gallon rez with GH nutes on the Lothar formula. Currently has Liquid KoolBloom additive.

Day 45ish of a 60ish day strain

1000 Watt lights

I have 3 tables and this problem seems to be limited to just one table. This table has 3 plants that are just real droopy, like they are overwatered. The leaves are also yellow. I dont believe they are overwatered as this strain has been running for months and I have pulled 6-7 harvests using the same schedule, nutes, etc. Nothing has changed.

I believe there may be an issue with old roots in the system and the system not being cleaned properly beyween harvests. Yeah I know. I usually take all the hydroton out and try to get all the roots out, and put it back in. But I have not bleached or sterilized the tables or media for a while. Yeah I know, my current empty table is getting a full scrub down and so will every table from now on.

I dumped some H2O2 in there, probably 4 tablespoons per gallon. I plan on dumping it tomorrow morning. I have heard the h2o2 is not that as it kills everything and will allow the problem to come back twice as fast.

So should I use SM-90 which is suppesed to deal with root rot or use the hygrozyme to deal with the old roots?

Do you have a separate res. for each table? It sounds like you have a pythium problem, which I've found usually happens when the nutrient reservoir is too warm/under oxygenated. The warmer the water, the less oxygen it can carry. I've used SM90 in a soilless mix before with good success. In hydroponics, the only thing that's worked for me is cooling the res., increasing aeration, and Ridomil.

Good luck.

Hope these pics help

Each table has 2 100 gallon reses. I havent had an issue till now. The temps may be getting a tad warm, I will check the temps. I really think it has something to do with the left over roots.

I dumped in some SM90 today. I only have 20 days to go so I am hoping the SM90 will fix the problem.

I also picked up some air pumps and am going to get all my stones together and get them cleaned up and back in use. The old air pumnps died and I never bothered to put new ones in.

I'd look more into the temps as well...if not the rez than perhaps you have fed too much for the warmer weather. Have you done a run in the summer using these methods? Plants need less food the warmer it gets. Perhaps you fried your leaves with overfeeding...
