I am looking for the best bait, that will only attrack rabbits.

I am thinking minced up carrots?

Also, Would I have more chance, with my trap, of catch them during the day or night?

I wouldn't want to catch any nocturnal animals :spank:

I found out that the best bait for little flopsys comes in the form of lead. It can be used in bullet form from a gun. I find that this brings the wabbit to me every time.

Damn man, you want to attract them, I want to get rid of them. Whatever is in my backyard seems to be great bait! I send the dogs out 2 or 3 times a night to chase them around.

....the funny part is the dogs weigh less then the rabbits. The fiesty one is only 3 pounds and chasing rabbits has become his favorite past time......he just gets confused when they stop, he starts running around them in circles until they go again and he can chase.....hey, I nevr said I had smart dogs.

Any veggies will do.......

but 1st plan on catching a skunk & devise a way (in advance of that happening) to release your trap from a distance. If you'd just like to attract rabbits to come live in your yard then assemble a large brush pile in the corner, but make sure that the brush pile doesn't violate any city ordinances itself bro.

as far as bait? like I implied above anything will do but you're just as likely to catch a skunk so plan for it. that being said most skunks will not spray just because they've been trapped, don't have Rambo in the yard if/when releasing a skunk. If you're using a steel mesh 'Havahart' type trap you'd be awful close to that skunk to release it so plan on the worst case scenario. Thankfully never myself but I've heard of guys walking right up (slowly) to a trapped skunk and making the release w/o even a threat of spray, skunk just waddling off. Back in NY I had friends that hand fed the skunks and racoons at night while they'd sit stoning and drinking vodka/lemondes. Screw that! I tossed the peanuts to them when I visited.

Havahart Trap, buy them at any decent hardware store (& NO! Home Depot is NOT a decent hardware store) or sporting goods shop or anywhere online for that matter.

if times are rough big bud u can always try for squirrel....i love how you start a thread and forget about it....nice work

apples and peanut butter will attract any rabbit in the area...the trap stoner4life showed would work well. I make them redneck style with scrap wood.

The problem with those traps is they only get one at a time and theres gangs of marauding bunnies in my neighborhood.

i have a garden, which is why i want to catch them. i bought a decent trap that should be here today

my idea is to catch them and let my dog eat them if he can catch them

So another A1 concept for the elimination of cotton tailed, floppy eared veg munchers.

STEP 1: Abduct, using whatever means necessary, 1 x Jessica Rabbit. I am guessing you can probably find her in Wal-Mart.

STEP 2: Also from Wal-Mart 1 x Glock plus ammo.

With this combo you are sure to win.

If your dog could catch them they would have already been eaten. If you are going to kill them, shoot them. It is cruel to cage an animal only to use it as a playtoy for your dog. If you need to get rid of them trap them and take them somewhere and release them, dont trap them just to watch your dog kill them.

Not to mention that it could change your dogs temperment having eatin wild game and tasted blood.

Didnt you have a past thread about feeding your dog rabbits?
