5 gal bucket Camo Tech

The walmart near me is stocked with green 5-gal buckets with army camo already on the sides, the only thing white is the handle and its removable. I bought a couple to use as water hauling buckets which are stored at my plots, but was thinking of using some next year on top of a couple creekside holes that got swamped out. There are three "rings" on the inside bottom of the buckets that could be drilled or cut out for large drainage holes to easily make outdoor pots- they almost seem to be designed for this purpose.
they do have a slight sheen to them, and the light green color might be obvious later in the year, depends on site and air traffic. Custom camo is always more stealthy, but not always necessary.
Or I might try to grow some trees in 25 gal trashcans set partway in those holes- camoed with flat army green and tan, using native vegetation as stencils- I use these trashcans for water storage at the moment. If you use too much green in your camo, it will stick out like a sore thumb in the fall, unless you're near lots of evergreens.
-here's pics of the buckets I'm talking about

dude i would love that bucket but my walmart didnt have one! after one season in my normal garden it would be worn enough for the sheen to be gone and be ready for use in my secret garden! i got paint today and im gonna see how it goes...they only had a few buckets so i got some approx 6.5 gal planters to use that are a good hunter green so they should be straight.....

Yeah, its weird how some walmarts have things others don't. The local one just went "super" last year and those buckets are new items along with a greatly expanded "garden center"
I really have a love/hate relationship with that place. I'm still waiting to see bags of EWC there that I've been reading about, but they don't stock it (yet?).
those planters should do you fine once painted- good luck and safe n' happy growin! :rasta:

dude i spotted that plant in the first pic!!!!! thats only b/c ive seen those photos numerous times, maybe as far back as overgrow.....

climbinghigh....yeah dude my walmart has been "super" for a minute now, im just waiting for it to go "Super duper" and start selling cars and trucks and airplanes, and prostitutes, and weed....i live like 30 mins from a big city so i can visit numerous walmoart/lowes/home depot, etc to find what i need. I think different store managers have options regarding what items they stock in each department each season based on the previous years sales of those seaosnal items. i.e. if last year the walmart near me sold more mushroom compost than chicken manure, and the one across town did the opposite then mine might stock only the mush. comp. next year and the other might have only chicken manure. (im pretty sure ive never seen chicken maniure or mushcomp at wally mart. )

anyways, i painted my 5 gallon buckets today and it was awesome...i used brown as a base then filled in any lighter areas with green then did a very light overall coat of black to darken it up. By holding the black spray about twice as far away as the rest, it had sort of a misting effect so it only darkened what was already applied and kinda drew everything together without making heavy black marks or lines....i am very pleased with the results. this afternoon im going to break up some straw and leaf litter, etc and apply soem adhesive to my buckets and either roll them thru the stuff or cast handfuls of it at them, ill see whatever works better. I also painted my already green plantsers with soem of the brown and black and tighten them up even more. just a tip....dont forget the handle and the top rim of the bucket....those would be very obvious from above...

i doubt that you actually have seen these pics anywhere else since they were taken AFTER overgrow went down. And since CW was also down and i haven't posted any of them on any other forum i KNOW you couldn't have seen them anywhere else.

i wasnt saying they werent your pics or anything like that dude....also, i said i might have seen them at overgrow...not that i did for a fact.....I KNOW for a fact that i have seen those pics before, more than once as well. I am positive becuase i remember thinking how well they were done to illustrate the stealthiness. i know ive seen them posted on here a few times at least....thats all i know for fact. also, you dont know that someone didnt copy and paste your pics into a different forum or something. dont be such a ball buster and dont be so defensive

Old olive drab and camo tshirts work well, you can pick em up for cheap at Savation Army etc. Just pull the shirt over the bucket with the head hole at the top, then plant the plant through the headhole. The shirt hangs down and camoes the bucket very well.

They can also be reused for a few seasons before they get too tattered.

Peace

well you do have a point. i have posted them around here...a lot :D
the t-shirt idea is not that bad...but clothes left in the sun tend to loose their color, don't they?
while we're still throwing ideas at you i propose this : http://youtube.com/watch?v=qiKQ4dUXqIg. the technique can be applied to a bucket imho.

Hey, the avvy is a jumping spider, only a few millimeters long in real size. Glad you liked the tshirt idea, I have done it in the past (buckets in reeds alongside waterbodies) and it worked -they were not discovered, but that spot was accessible by boat only... :rasta:

Peace

dude moe..... good fishing or swimming water attracts people but swampy stinky backwater shies people away. I try to use that fact to my advantage and it sounds like you do too! be careful and safe

Gantz- your the bomb dude that sensiseal video was spot on....im gonna get that shit at the dollar store and hook it up...its so easy to do i can do it onsite in a flash.

well i began deploying my newly camo'd 5 gallon buckets.....i had mixed my soil and let it sit a while and stirred it a few times but i had not added perlite. i added the perlite this morning and filled my buckets. I was unable, however, to get all the way out and get them transplanted. As the sun began to come up i prioritized filling all the buckets and getting them all behind the treeline rather than getting a few all the way to the site. this evening ill go back and get everything to the site and then ill return at dawn to transplant!!!! the buckets are very stealth, i hid them in the bushes approx 10 yrds behind the treeline and after walking out they were invisible and i knew right where to look!
