What happens when you FREEZE WET BUDS

We had a bunch of buds with some heavy mite infestation. We clipped all we could off the buds, tossed them in a bag in the freezer.

They've been in there for two days.

What happens when you freeze mites on wet weed?

You are better off just doing a water cure! Water expands when frozen, and it will shatter THC crystals. Good luck!
that sounds good, but scientificly its impossible, you see "crystals", i.e. trichombes, are really OILs and oils dont really freez.... the plant material will become a disaster....so the thc mind as well freez, maybe even rot or mold when thawed... it might also have the consistancy of creamed spinach...

ok... so the results werent as bad as you guys put it! All the bud was handle carefully and placed in its own separate area in the freezer.

The bud is still intact but not as shiney as the non-frozen bud. I suspect this is a result of the breakdown of trichomes during or after the freezing process.
It became a bit compressed from being in a big bag with lots of other bud.

We flash dried it in open area next to a box fan in a low humidity environment. It thawed/dried overnight.
There are no visible mites.

I made this mistake once... froze a cured bud just to test what it did... left it in there for close to a month, pulled it, let it thaw, lit that bitch up.

Tasted like shit and the high was more of a headache. Nothing like the un-frozen stuff.

I've kept weed in a freezer and it didn't bother it but wet weed??? Clueless. I dont know and did you find any mite remains?

ok, depending on how much water was still left in the bud you could be looking at a few different scenarios. When making bubble hash, the best starting point is to freeze the material as cold as you can, as this breaks down the plants cell structure to make it break apart easily, as in powdered pot. At the same time, you won't be able to let the remaining chlorophyll metabolize and evaporate out (causing the icky taste). you could still use this for making bubble hash though. (even though it'll be icky with chlorophyll).

Another possibility is that it'll just freeze. ya know, a nice big potsickle with dead mite sprinkles on top. If it still has structure when it thaws, just do a water extraction. it'll pull out the chlorophyll, and the mites. If it falls apart, i suggest just making hash.

I'm sorry, but I have been freezing weed for decades now, and what you described simply doesn't happen. Surely you are talking about freezing a wet bud, which I have done before, and the thaw is what makes or breaks the green stuff.
A cured bud will come out of the freeze just as fresh as can be with NO discernible differences in taste or quality from the original cured bud. No matter how long it has been frozen.
You may well break off frozen resin (yes oil can freeze to some's amazement)
before the thaw, but I don't believe all the hype about bursting trich heads and such. I have taste tested side by side the same weed frozen and not, and there is no difference. But then, I'm a stoner, and your mileage may vary. (shrug)

in the airtight container it was placed in, bring the frozen (i use mason jars) to room temp, allowing the condensation to accumulate during the warming process on the outside of the jar. if you open the container before it is fully room temp, condensation can and will form on the product inside and on the insides of the vessel itself.
