first time grower

i am growing for the first time in a closet with some flourecents and now i have four females that started budding about two weeks ago or so. i have no growing experience and would appreciate tips and tunes, you know good "grow room jams" thanks.

Tips: It is important to have a plan, a direction you want to go for a specific reason. To get to where you want to go, doesn't mean you have to stick with the plan, it does mean you have to have a direction to take.

That being said, what one needs from any light (arguably the single most important component) is mostly the blue wavelengths for vegetating and mostly red wavelengths for flowering.

Soil is probably the easiest medium for beginners to start out with. For many reasons, but you can take a walk through the Soil/Organic Soil forums to learn more.

Your ventilation ports should be about 2/1 intake to exhaust and an adequate fan CFM to move the air.

A magnifying glass will help you to keep a close eye out for insects, disease, and molds. The Infirmary forum is an excellent source for diagnosis and treatment.

Do not over water. (It is better to have the soil dry and your plants drooping than to have the soil wet and the plants drooping.)

Do not over fert/nute. (Just watch your plants, they will tell you when they need to be fed.)

After that, it is only a matter of how well a beginner (or an "old timer" for that matter) uses their head and how patient they are.

As for tunes, I mostly listen to NPR, ("Eclectopia," "Nothing But the Blues," "Mountain Stage," etc.) I like to enlighten my girls, so they can enlighten me.

thats to much to wright down...i suggest you see a 'few' gromovies that are on the net..and doing the growing meanwhile....also open a diarie to get some help down the road...and i predict you can grow in less then a year....

Read. Read a lot. There's a wealth of info here and most any mistake you can make has already been made by someone else here.

Run through the Grow Diarys and Micro forums. Read everything that has closets, floros or T5 in the title. Probably wouldn't hurt to read all things CFL either. Check out anything by DrBudGreenGenes. Check out the forums dedicated to your medium (Soil, Hydro, Coco) Read through the Infirmary section so you'll be able to prevent problems rather than have to correct them.

After reading all that 3-4 times, check out all the forums that don't apply. I haven't grown outdoors or with soil for 15 years but I still read through the Outdoor/Greenhouse forums. Heck, I read the Coco forums. Something I never have and probably never will use.
