AUSSIE TENTS KILL PLANTS

Hey folks, well it is confirmed, tents available through ebay and through hydroponics stores in Australia are poisonous! The wholesaler knows about this problem but is still selling the tents through retailers. As far as I know only one type of tent is available in various sizes, throughout Australia and so all retailers would be affected.

This problem causes a strange yellowing of the leaves and eventual death in some sensitive strains, and I have experienced this first hand. I can't upload pictures atm but there is plenty of information available from our European and American comrades if you use the search function on this site.

If anyone has any experience they would like to add, good or bad feel free, and I will answer any questions I can.

serious..? muthaf*%^$r I just had the dude at my hydro tell me he could sell me a 1.95x1.95x2m for half price because it was returned by some guy who didnt need it cause he was upsizing his grow... guess now I know the real reason he was returning it..!
what a shit! I guess its back to the drawing boards as my new place doesnt allow any other options other than a tent... dont want to shell out over a grand 4 one of those brand name f'ers either...

Sorry to hear that monkey, seems the conspiracy runs deep. And I was wondering a couple of months ago why I saw so many of them around cheap. I will let you know if I come across a better option but at the moment I am still looking myself. I just built a box section alloy frame and lined it with panda, and used some ply screwed to the frame for the exhaust and its doing ok....bit more light proof than the tents as well, maybe that will get you by? Less than 300 total for about that size plus plenty of spare plastic.

Edit - It didn't take too long to assemble (1 night) and I could pull it apart and have it moved no worries in 1 hour or less. It is no zip up tent but I would hate to see people not grow because of these ass hats.

thanks flav, after reading that unfortunate snippet of info above I was contemplating 2day whether or not I should take a similar route to the one you have outlined above, only I havent built anything like that 4 quite awhile.Apart from my technical incompetence the idea actually has more ups than downs really.Instead of being restricted by the dimensions of the tents I could (hopefully-fingersX'd) have something that would inclose my system as I wish the system to be, customising the enclosure rather than just running a system which fits the tent... The girlfriend and I were planning on putting a darkroom in our house (when we own 1!) so this couldnt possibly be more difficult to do... Anyway, I'm getting carried away, thanks 4 the heads up and best of luck...

Apparently certain batches and individual tents can be more affected than others, and it depends how much heat you put through the tent as the gases start coming out when the tent heats up. I think it is a punt, we are at oposite ends of the spectrum though with our results, and the wholesaler CAN NOT guarantee that they won't cause problems. I won't be using any cheap tents as I was only using it to dump some mothers in for a few weeks anyway, so good luck to everyone; hopefully you have better luck than I did. hey cdc, if you dont mind me asking do u have a brand name for the tent u use or at least the general distributors info? I am really upset after hearing the above info and although I'm making plans for an alternative, the original tent plan would really be the best way to go for me.Also, what dimensions are your tent and how many plants do u fit etc? thanks...

hughesy, got the two tents under the house, the wife hates it but what the hell.I pissed off that they emit toxins. with the boys running round makes you worry.
