NorCal...there's smoke in the sky!

Hey my NorCal buddies. If you're like me, you can look straight into the sun with no harmful effects to the eyes. You look down and there's a shadow casted but you feel no heat from the sun.

The wildfires are crazy this year and the air is horrible.

What do you guys think about this sun blockage and your grows?

I was kinda thinking that since you can use thick clear plastic for a greenhouse, while hiding your grow AND still grow beautiful plants, this smoke in the air isn’t really hurting anything.

I think your grow may be ok Jon, probably no real lasting effects, but Im concerned about you and your neighbors with the extreme and what seems like an endless drought and the terrible fires that come with it. When I watch the news and see the satellite views of smoke anpeople loosing their homes and lives, my thoughts are with you.
I hope for rain to put out the fires and settle the smoke, not only for the growers but for all of you.

Here's hoping for better days man. They'll surely come.

Smoke Here Too!

Smoke Here Too!

Yeah here on the CA's central coast we have two large fires going. One is over 50,000 acres and the other is at 20,000. Here are a few pic's of the smoke from my land. The fire is still 15 miles away from me.

The way I am looking at it is that the smoke is there and there's nothing I can do about it, so who cares? It's thick in the Bay Area as well. If it is causing problems it'll cause problems for everyone in the region, so it'll just mean that what crop you get will be worth more this fall. Considering that this is probably one of the biggest growing regions in the country, I'm guessing it'll effect weed prices nationwide. I may be too NorCal centric, though.

I'm with Silverback - I just hope as few people as possible get hurt or lose their homes in all of this. And for the record the rain isn't coming, not for at least another four months or so. It doesn't rain here in the summer. I just hope that the people who lied about global warming for the last 20+ years know that every life that ends in these fires or the floods further east in on their heads. For every fire that burns here, one of those bastards will burn for eternity on the other side. And I don't even believe in that stuff.

DangerP I can see that global warming is a touchy subject for you, so I'll tread softly here, but, what else besides global warming can explain the fact that for the first time the history of this planet, the North Pole ice pack is TOTALLY breaking up into fragmented ice-bergs, permenently depriving polar bears and other critters of liveable habitat for good.

Forgive me for saying this, but I see a DIRECT tie between the vanishing ice of the polar regions. and the record-breaking heat much of the planet has experienced over the past decade, resulting in the spate of wildfires that have ravaged California and western USA for example.

I'm truly afraid that the sky really is falling, and one can only hope it is not too late to go green in all we do.

Jon-
If all of these fires/smoke are causing more CO2, then it is probably beneficial. Mine are growing very good. I am on the North side of Sacto. It has been very smoky, but today seems better.

Two days ago the jet stream shifted, and started blowing all that damned smoke north into southern Oregon, the sky is yellow, and the hills are hazy. At least it doesn't seem to smell smoky, and the sunshine isn't too diminished, but it was a shock to realize where the smoke is comming from.

Our fire season is just on the edge of started here, but not too bad yet, good luck this season California!

Good luck back at ya backcountry, The smoke in norcal was unbearable. Advisories to stay inside and to not run swamp coolers and such. The smoke has lifted in my area and we can see the blue skies for the first time in about a week. today is the third day we have had clearer and hope it stays that way. If your doing fireworks on the 4th please be safe, the lives and lively hood of alot of our wildlife depend on it!
