My first grow-HGS MB & BP,400W CMH,Moonshine Mix

High all,

This is actually my 1.5st grow as I had a Durban Poison plant vegging which I ended up harvesting in order to concentrate on my Highgrade Seeds Black Pearl and Monster Bud. I am using the original Moonshine Mix as my medium and a 400w CMH bulb. Temps range from 73f to 82f and RH is now stabilized at 45%. I was using an ultrasonic fogger up until now to help lower the temps but the problem was that it raised the RH way to high (up to 80% at times)!

I went with the MM because I thought it would be simple - no nutes until flowering. Well, as you can see from my pix I am now experiencing a nitrogen deficiency.

I need some advice - I plan on transplanting to 5g home depot buckets this weekend with a new batch of MM. I will be flipping to 12/12 in one week in order to give the plants some recovery time.

Should I water with some FoxFarm Grow Big this weekend after the transplant or will the new MM be enough? I need to stop the yellowing.

Here's a pic of the seeds transplanted from 2x2 rockwool cubes into soil on May 25:

Here they are a week later, still looking good:

Ok, here they are on June 15 and the yellowing has begun... in retrospect, I am guessing I should have done a transplant to new soil at this point?

And here's the latest.... the yellowing is getting bad and I am starting to see roots at the bottom of the pot so I think it is def. time to transplant:

Any advice would be appreciated!

kronick whats up looking good so far, you need a little N imo I would give them 1 teaspoon of the grow big mixed with a gallon of water and also a teaspoon of the fox farm big bloom if you have the full nute line. here is the fox farm feeding schedlue

http://foxfarmfertilizer.com/soilfeed.pdf

i used it at full strength with no problems but if your plants are finicky try going half strength at first. Also make sure your water is ph'ed around 6.5 after you mix nutes this is very important. also at his point 5 gallons is un neccassary try3 gallon buckets first then move up once you are root bound again. nice choice with the cmh bulb I love my CMH i am running a 400w too.

NorCalFor20 - thanks for the response. My current pots are 7.5 x 7.5 x 9 height so I am not really sure what the capacity is (I went with them cuz they are square) - I want this to be my final transplant so would 3 gallon be enough? Do you happen to know the dimensions of a 3g container? From what I can see, transplanting into a 5g home depot pot wouldn't leave a whole lot of room underneath the current plant.

How does this sound for a fertilziing plan - I use a 10g tote as my resevoir so would it be ok to add 10 teaspoons of grow big and 10 teaspoons of big bloom together into the resevoir and then just water using the tea?

Thanks much,

yeah its 1 teaspoon per gallon so if your watering can holds 10gallons i would just do 1 teaspoon x10 but i wouldn't let it set around for so long its gonna take a while with 6 plants to use 10 gallons of water. if you can, use something smaller... when water sits around like that the PH rises... so you might have to re-ph everytime before you use it. if you are gonna go the ten gallon route at least put an air bubbler pump to oxygenate the water/nute mix so it dosn't go so stale... ill be keeping an eye out on your grow im currently finishing up my first indoor under HID's well just starting flowering and one thing I learned that was most important is to maintain a 6.5 ph... the first 4 weeks i didn't ph my water/nutes and the first time i got my ph tester i found out i was watering my plants with 8.9 ph water and I was getting a lot of nute lockout which is what you could be experiencing with the yellowing instead of a deficiency. i lost a lot of leaves due to ph imbalance so make sure you get that handled there.... anyway just lookin out

how long do you plan on vegging? i think i let mine veg a little too long but who knows its my first indoor grow. here are what mine look like i vegged them a little over a month and a half and they are on day 12 on flower of 12/12

fatal1 - wait til you see the pix I'm gonna post tomorrow... I am absolutely stunned at how well the plants responded to the FoxFarm nutes.... and I used them at half strength even!!!

NorCalFor20 - I absolutely LOVE the CMH bulb - it seems to be the closest thing to natural sunlight... I am going to use it all the way through as well...

I have vegged for 5 weeks as of tomorrow (Sun) which is when I am flipping the switch to 12/12.

I'll certainly keep this post updated with pix... out of my 6 plants I dunno how many are ladies yet... I have 4 Highgrade Seeds Black Pearl and 2 Monster Buds... I pray for at least one lady out of each strain.

Doubt I'll win the contest as I am a complete n00b but I'll certainly post my results and hope that we both do real well :jump:

well its my first indoor grow , i did it once with fluros started in jan and took outside in may and it turned out awesome but ive never gone all the way with an actual HID but hey we are off to a good start. btw i see you said you were gonna flip them to 12/12 i say let them veg until they show sex because a mature plant should make better buds imo plus you want to have alternating nodes before you flower that alone should at least double your harvest wating for the alt nodes, besides you have a CMH if you let them veg a bit they wont stretch a bit when you flip, my 20" plants streteched to 26" so there was not too much of a stretch - if you check my thread you will see how long i vegged.im not quite sure something like 2 maybe 2 1/2 months.

Update

Hey All -yup, still around - my first grow is going a lot better than I had thought it would - out of 4 black pearl and 2 monster bud plants I ended up with 4 ladies - 2 bps and 2 mbs - the best outcome I could have possible hoped for :jump:

However, I have already suffered 2 bent main stems - one from each strain. I have the stems propped up with twist ties... after harvest, I will be sure to keep them separate to see if there is any difference in yield/potency. I didn't realize how fragile they are - one just bent out of hitting the light while moving, the other while I was testing flexibility before attempting to LST as she was getting bigger than the rest.

As for now my main concern is height, I am starting my third week of flowering, and I was planning on another 7. You can see from the pix below how much clearance I have - I think that should be enough for these 60/40 sativa/indica hybrids ??

Looks like I am having a problem uploading new pix so I'll get some up as soon as the prob is fixed.
