lumatek grolux poop

Anyone else running a 400w grolux bulb with one of the purple lumatek ballasts? Just got this bulb and it doesn't fire up every time. I need to power-cycle it a few times before it comes on.

Found some other threads of folks having problems with the 600s and another thread that talks about the lumateks re-trying to ignite the bulb every X minutes so even if it doesn't come on the first time, it will come on eventually.

I dunno how I feel about that.. :fsu:

I was afraid of that. What bulb brand/model (if you recall) worked ok for you?

I just picked up a 600w lumatek (purple) and a 600w grolux hps only got it to work once. Lumatek says its the bulbs igniting voltage. They were suppose to send my an adapter but I have yet to receive it. :cuss: :cuss:

Yeah, I think I posted something like that about my 600w Sylvania GroLux on the new blue & purple Lumatek's. :badday:

Gonna stick to the Hortilux from now on for the Lumatek.

Oh well, I ordered a 400W Hortilux Super HPS... we'll see what happens when it arrives.

Thx everyone

Ok this is bullshit....... not flaming but need to tell a true story!!!!

Ok this is bullshit....... not flaming but need to tell a true story!!!!

Bought a Purple Lumatek couple months ago. Worked out great, silent.... got a little hot but nothing much to worry about. Then one day I come home and its midnight when it should be high noon.

Figured it was that little fuse that is next to the power input. Pull it put a new one in and same shit. So I hook up my Future-Brite and bam ... same wire, bulbs , power supply. So this bullshit ballast lasted less than 2 months on 12/12.

So I call the place I bought it and get a bunch of voice mails and then the owner calls and says it won't work with Horitilux bulbs. I paid about 2 bills for that bulb. He says I have to use a generic bulb from Homedepot of some shit.

Two things I bought the Lumitek..... 1. no fan to burn out like I had to replace on my Future-Brite ( which was like 2 min job and the fans cost less than 2 bucks so I bought a couple...... 2 was because of the 5 year warranty.

Well the net supplier (will give the name of anyone that PMs me) tells me he can't do anything so I have to go to Lumatek. The paper work that came with the ballast from this bull shit store says I must return it to the purchase.

Long story short... Lumatek is having me send it in to them. They never mentioned a bulb problem. Just trouble shooted the usual then sent me a UPS to send it in......How many of us use traceable payment methods to show original purchase. Got to thinking...... it is a bullshit scam. They know who they are dealing with... and our weakness for privacy. SHAME ON BOTH THE STORE AND THE SUPPLIERS>>>> nothing more to say. Told Lumatek and the store managers I was going to let my people know the true story... and then I come across this thread...... AIN"T KARMA A BITCH.

Peace

Mine did too...... for about 2 months....

Mine did too...... for about 2 months....

Lets see...... $350.0 divided by 2...... about $175.00 per month. Little expensive for my tastes. Thats only 12/12 so really its 1 full month of 24. Still waiting on my replacement or fix. Damn good thing I have extras.... wonder how much that adds to the cost? HHHhhhhhmmmmmmm.

Peace :fsu:

.....

I could have written that exact post.

I'm now a Lumatek hater....

Don't believe the hype. I'm sticking with dependable magnetic coil ballasts that WORK EVERY TIME.

Put the extra money into a better reflector.

Running a hydro shop, I've found Solarmax lamps are very relaible, high quality lamps, comparable to Hortilux and perhaps a little easier on some digital ballast.

Well i will say this, I have a digital ballest, i haven't had problems like you guys... what i did have is, that damn thing makes my ph and PPM Testers go wonky when its on. I had one of those 3-1 Nutadrip Testers... worked great till I plugged in the big boy, didn't realize it was the ballest, so i brought it back and exchanged it for 2 seperate ones.. brought it home, worked in the store, did not work @ home... started freaking out cause they were like 200 bucks... then i just happened to be in there when my lights turned off... Thing started working great again.

Just some food for thought...

OK...... the rest of the story.

OK...... the rest of the story.

Well... I sent my Lumatek in to the manufacture and within about 2 weeks received a new one in the a new box. No explanation, or anything.

Jury is still out.... if I was going for cheap shit that worked half assed I could have bought another ballast at a much lower price. If this one does the same.... done with their stuff.

Like said before... not all of us have a few extra ballasts setting around and that would have be a catastrophic event.

Keep the info coming. I like the Hortilux bulbs..... great results. I am not going to let a ballast dictate my lamp choice, especially when it is not stated up front. PERIOD.

Peace

If they offer an ;adapter'.. that says to me that they're shit didn't work right in the first place.....I mean shit- you can buy a damn laptop for $300 dollars....

G33k, read over the various digital ballast / bulb compatibility threads, and you'll get a better idea. It's not really that "their shit didn't work right in the first place".

these things sound like they havent worked out the bugs or you should at least check up carefully on them, with all the RF interference stuff i read screwing with cable and such, hopefully that stuffs taken care of now.

has anybody ever HAD problems with the galaxies? it seems to be the one that nobody's ever reported problems on, at least that ive seen.
