Otherwhitemeat: Nice pictures. A few comments if I may; with regards to the second cab....do you really want to veg, flower and keep moms in the same space?
My feeling (and it's personal as well as experiential) is that to flower effectively...you need tight control of the lighting....ie-no leaks. When you're keeping moms in the same area....unless you've got it down pat....light leakage from one area to another causes sketchy growth.....
Plus...if you DO have a tight clamp down on the lighting...it usually means there isn't adequate air flow.

That brings me to a second comment. The canopy shot picture of the sativas under the 250 watt HPS seem to be rather close together....with little or no room for air flow between the plants. Whereas you can totally get away with that...(cause I have the same issues sometimes)....it's not optimal. I do recognize you've got a fan closeby and that should at least get things moving...but you'd be surprised to find better results with better air flow.

As far as what strain that is.....it's always hard to tell just from looking at a strain online....but from what I know about the bronx....it's gotta have some haze genetics in it. Some people would call it the "piff". You can tell because it has that "ginger ale" smell when it burns. It also takes forever and a day to flower. You need something that finishes up in 60 days flat.

The whole NY and tri-state area seems to have a prevalence of certain strains. People have obviously obtained them for commercial growing. We've lost some of our diversity in genetics because people are trying to just turn a profit. The funny thing is that alot of the same growers seem to have ignored the fact that alot of those strains selected also have a very long flowering time. I think alot of it has to do with people's perception of the cannabis cup winners: sometimes people go in search of a particular strain because "it won the cup". Beyond that...they don't know too much about it. Then everyone else is jumping on the bandwagon and they get the same 'winners'. Ultimately it dillutes the gene pool and we get the same schwaggly kind being pedalled by everyone.

I just had to tell a friend that If I see another bag of haze or northern lights crosses I'm going to blow my brains out. I try to grow the strains that I'd like to see around my parts......exotic....indica/sativa crosses with the indica side dominant.

Prof sublime thanks for the 'kind' words. I am still new to this, but I have lots of experience with amateur mycology and have always been a botanist. growing my own shmoke; now THAT'S FUN! I am going to try Nirvana, haven't tried 'em yet. Any advise on a good SCROG friendly, quick finishing strain?

Does it make more sense to do a CC or cash only order? I don't like the idea of using a CC but could really use some advise, I'm out $200 and 0 for 2. One I sent $$ to, they sent nothing said they never got (surprise)....another I sent $$ to (reputable vendor) and we are pretty sure they got pulled at customs. I need a damned Indica cross that I can pull in 60 days. These Sattys will blow your wind, but they are not small scale friendly and they just take too long!

Yes, the cab is small... It may seem crowded from the canopy, but the Can Fan pulls air up through the 8" square passives and I have two 6 inch desk fans just blasting away underneath and at the top of the canopy. Air movement is very good. Right now, ventilation is provided by 1- 4" Can Fan. I did a piss poor job of training these girls so it's quite a mess on the SCROG, space is tight--but none of the buds are touching and-at the moment-they are all about an inch apart, even if the tops are all over the map. If it makes more 'sense' (haha) to go with three plants, I'll do it. But I am stuck with these genetics right now, until I can get something shorter and more Indy. I have one that I thought was an Indica dom, it's just has fat leaves, and matures in about 80 days (not bad, but I still need this all to turnaround quicker.

I got another 4" fan for Cab 2.0. So, two fans and two carbon filters. Was going to set up a hurricane lamp style cool tube and not sure if I should use one fan for the flower room and one fan for the veg/clones/mothers. Or if I should connect all the spaces and have one fan on intake and one on exhaust duty (similar to nokuy's setup). Or one just dedicated to cooling the 250. Ideas?

I have the light leak thing down. Lots of experience with that and rickety ass metal Cab 1.0. I've weatherstripped the whole thing out and actually sat in the flower room with the 250 in the mother room and it's pitch black. Actually had my girlie lock me in, haha--that was fun

I am averaging about 8-10 over ambient, which in my basement is always about 70-72 Cab 1.0 uses two passive intakes which I basically hacked into the side of the metal cab. The cab is rusting and looks like a grow setup, there's no way of hiding it, Cab 1.0 gotta go. It's basically a flower only cab at the moment. I have my mothers, clones, and vegging all going on in different places. None of it's secure and the house always reeks. Luckily my lady appreciates the hobby, but every time we have people over I have to stash shit in the garage. The whole plan is to tuck my new larger cab in the ulility room of the basement, turn on the dehumidifier and drown out the fan noise. It will be inside of a utility room and just needs to pass a quick visual if anyone opens the door, which is always locked. I have places to dump the exhaust air (walls, dryer vents, hot water heater, fireplace flue, etc)

By the way: I used to get the MOST DANK INSANE NUG EVER IN THE BRONX. It was one or two exits beyond the GW bridge.....a friend of mine used to live there years back. I stopped into this italian joint called "Pete's" (I think it was called that)....it was a small pizza shop.....they had the most insane Chicken Parmesean calzones...

Hell...sometimes I'd take a ride just to pick up a bunch of the calzones and not even nug.

But I digress....there was a large growing community there...and a huge influx of good nugs. I find it disappointing that everything is going haze these days.....

I betcha if you looked hard enough you'd find some people out there still growing dank...and if you're lucky enough you may even be able to score a clone or at the very least some bagseed from their ripping strains.

By the way, this Papaya is a true animal...I like to put my new gals through a bit of stress to see how they "shore up" against environmental problems....I subject them to extreme heat, sometimes over-nutrification, under-nutrification....high humidity, low humidity...etc. At least one of these phenotypes seems to hang in there no matter what I throw at it.....I think the iron maiden and a rubber hose is next....at least the car battery to the nipples.

My point is that this thing is a beast....and I've seen threads that suggest it's been grown by medicinal growers for that narcotic knock-out effect.

The name is all I needed to convince me: Papaya....

Plus it's cheaper than alot of the other designer strains.

If you know that little joint "pete's" maybe I'll grab a calzone there wit'cha some day.

I do cruise through the Bronx with regularity (particularly Pelham Bay).

I have only grown the Snow White so far, I havent gotten into flowering one yet tho. My last try was a really nice and stinky male tho. BTW I used a credit card when buying it with no problem.

I would take accessnd's advice and buy that strain it sounds great. Plus he has the experince to prove it. I might pick a pack of them up my next purchase.

Access, 2 exits off the GW? Jerome Ave? Yankees stadium? I know the area. The guy who's been helping me out gets 'da good shit' and 'regs', price difference is 2:1, my genes came from a bag with a few seeds..looked like some sense that got accidentally pollenated. He's a good guy and never claws, but a few times I shelled out $500 for a 20g oz...that was the last straw.

I get out to Pelham/Country Club every now and again too--don't know Pete's. For my money, the best pizza in NYC is Patsy's in Harlem...mmmm...thin as shit and I can practically snort a whole pie...drool...drool...I digress, I think I am going to give Papaya a whirl.
