so i got a 4 x 8 ebb n flow table i have 2 ?'s

1. how big of rez (im guessing 100-125)
2. fill it up with hydroton or use the 8" net cup's i got with it?

when i seen it set up they where using the net cups and the roots that where showing where not happy.... i dont know if it was from the light or poor growing skills..... but either way i did not like seeing root open to the lite dose a table work just filled up with droton or whats the best way.... i have growen just about every way you can think of but a ebb n flow table i have done ebb n flow buckets but never a table.... so im gonna give it a shot... :dueling:

You can do it either way, either the pots with hydrton in them or just plain hydroton in the table.

I like to use hydroton in the table with pots so you can pull the roots out nicely when the plants are done.

Also for the rez get your self a 100 gal. I have 70 gallon on one of mine and it has to be topped off ever 2 days about 10 gallons. The table takes around 50-55 gals to fill.

please do not fill it up with hydroton it is totally not worth it, the cleanup is like you working a freaking 2 dollar a hr job.

well if you where in chat i would have just asked u and not posted a thread.... but your ass has not been there all day :muahaha:

i have a presser washer for cleaning the droton it has been the easy way so far i can do 10 gallons at a time.... any other reason not to fill it up?

if i dont fill it up and just use the net pots are the roots fine in the light? or should i cover them? with somthing like 6mil poly??

you can lay down those then x where you put on it and put your pot there

You know those drainaige thing on the tray isn't made to fill up with small pebbles.

Well, IMO you should use the solid side pots. 4" square for 9 per sqft, 6" for 4 psf... Rootbinding really isn't an issue with a F&D IME because you can adjust flood schedule to keep them happy.

I vote 6" pots of hydroton...Imho you see diminishing returns on density greater than 4psf...check my gallery

thx for the input and i did look at your gallery..

i started cleaning the hydroton.......... got 10 gallons done and said fuck it

so i went to the local store to day and picked up a 4 x 8 roll of coco tek & 30 RW cubes {4 x 4 x 4} all pick up 30 more when there shipment get's in taking all the advice on this thread and running with it....... 60 in 5 row's of 12 that way when im done i can roll it up and toss it fuck cleaning that shit for 2 bucks n hr...hahah

thx again for the info guys

if you want to clean mass amounts of hydroton get this
bask2.gif

remember to use panda film on top to prevent algea you should be super clean with it even your res. After harvest let don't flood for 3 days to let rw dry then you pluck the rw from the mat THEN after that you can roll up the mat and throw away and lay another mat on top, because you use the panda your tray should stay clean so no need to scrub after.

what size pump should one use to flood a 4x8 table

i gonna use a OR6500 witch is more then likely bigger then anyone else uses but i bought one for my reef tank and it's to big for it i had to down size so i have it laying around it should fill my table in 1-2 min's i think i might have to have 4 1" overflow drains to keep up with it i know the ppl that gave me the table used a 500gph pump at first and it took the 15 min's flood time just to fill the thing up :bashhead: they had to move up to 2 x 500 and still waited 6-7 min's most pumps ratings are at 0 head so make sure you add that in thats where they went wrong the OR6500 is 1650 GPH @ 3 foot head :rasta:
