MOD BX VERTICAL COCO TREES

BOOM!

BOOM!

Hello ICMaggers.

So I put up the 1K MH for a few days to check out the environment; it turned out to be a bad idea what with summer and all. Between the bulb and a/c, i couldn't keep the humidity comfortably high. It was at 50% and dropping, and that's with a couple humidifiers running full blast. So now I have the plants under the 600w HPS. I just walked in on my plants to see 91*F and 80% RH, and they never looked so good. :canabis: I had to snap off a couple.

Sorry for the red tint, I'll figure it out soon enough.

Here we have a group shot. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks from D-Day (dropped them in water).

This is the fastest grower and healthiest of the bunch.

Here is Funky. I've never seen a plant not growing nodes like this; it's just 2 cotys and 2 oblongs. Hey there fella, where's the growth? :puppydoge

I may end up vegging these a few extra weeks. I get the feeling they won't stretch as much as I had originally though. :ying:

Hell yeah! I'm hoping to get some extreme Thai phenos myself. I was thinking 2/3 Kali Mist is going to make it tough to find with this generation, but if all goes as planned (hehe), I'll be inbreeding these a few more generations.

I just cracked 3 T* Haze x Skunk #1 yesterday (3/5). They will be grown out in soil though because I'm sure they'll need some height management. They have yet to sprout, but I have high hopes for my sativa collection.

Roots are bangin'; it's time for a transplant. Into #2s they go. Sunleaves Piece Coir (chunky), soaked in 10 ml/gallon Cal-Mag, Plant Success Granular in the holes, and watered in with 10 ml/gallon Liquid Karma.

MOD BX VERTICAL COCO TREES

Beautiful photos E_S. I will be following along with this grow for sure. I love those lil coco pots. The first time I have seen them. By the way- you mention using the Sunleaves chunky- was it necessary to wash it well for contained salts or did you use it without prior flushing? I am a coco newbie and want to learn the ropes. Thank much for sharing bro.

 Hey brother, nice to have you here. I hope I can keep this thread entertaining for ya. Quality is always tops around here.

Well, the coir was soaked 2 times. The first time (in R/O) was just to break up the block. I can't remember exactly what the water was like after I pulled the coco, but I can say it was either 400 ppm or 400 microsiemens (.4 EC) and very dark. There was sand at the bottom of the Rubbermaid upon emptying the water. The second soaking was in R/O with 10 ml of Cal-Mag per gallon. I think this sets up nicely as the plants have been growing very quickly. The leaves are already as big as those of my 3 month old AK-47 (in soil), and these MOD BXs aren't even 3 weeks from seed! :muahaha:

could you show more of your setup? Im lookin into a vertical coco grow too

Nothing special here........ It isn't a vertical grow just yet. The only other things in the room are a couple of humidifiers and a space heater. All you'd need for a vertical grow is ballast, cordset, and lamp; I don't think it can get much easier than that. In fact, I get the feeling I'm about to regret all the superfluous equipment I've dropped money on over the past few years. :violin: Well, I already do. :muahaha:

Here's a group shot, 3 weeks from seed. I've lost a few days of veg because of a flush. The Plant Success granular 2-2-2 turned out to be a lot for these plants. I forgot all about it and ended up feeding .75 EC to them at the same time. They weren't shriveled up or anything nasty, but when I saw the burnt tips starting to flare up I flushed a good bit. The flush was harder on them than the nutes. :ying:

This is the condition of the leaves as of now (IT"S PAT!). Not too shabby but I'm kicking myself.

This one has looked like this for a couple of days. A little curled, but I've seen worse. It's perking up slowly.

Pat is out-stretching the others, while a couple of them seem to be bushing out. I'm thinking 2 more weeks of veg before I flip the lights; the stretch-factor has me second guessing myself. I just have no idea what these things are going to do.

Excellent! Looking very clean and neat!

I have absolutely zero experience and knowledge of vertical growing; however I do recall reading from a few people who have tried, that they feel vegging vertically would have resulted in better results. Perhaps may not be the case with these wild sativas as they're likely to stretch a lot, but just food for thought.

It would be interesting to see how the two techniques compare. My growroom is only 6'x8'x7'. I get the feeling if I were to veg vertically, I would only have room for 2 plants, which would be a good thing if I had the resources to throw at a KBS. Also, my veg area is setup for horizontal lighting and it would be impractical for me to change things now. The only reason these plants have the flower room is because I decided against a SOG in favor of the new genetics.

Hi Even_Steven. Just stopped in to say I am enjoying the show, and looking forward to the updates. :lurk:

Hiya pHaroaH! Welcome to the show. :friends: I also look forward to the updates so we already have something in common. :muahaha:

You guys keep a lookout for my next grow. I plan on vegging four AK-47s
for as long as these MOD BXs and Thunks flower. Three months of veg; this should be good. :rasta:

I finally got my little ones under a proper light; New Wave 48 (mixed spectrum) FTW! This is cool as all get out. :joint: These bad-boys are very bright. Maybe this will stop the stretching. :asskick: Anyway, here's a pic of them in their new home, for another week or two.

4 weeks from seed

4 weeks from seed

M'kay, here we go. These plants are 4 weeks from seed. The bottom leaves are yellowing but the upper leaves are a dark green with slightly burnt tips still. It's been Cal-Mag and Liquid Karma only since the flush. I'll be adding in a little grow formulas to see how they respond although I'm still not sure just how much 2-2-2 Plant Success is left unused; just hoping to find a nice balance real soon.

No sex showing yet. I was wanting to veg another week but I am now thinking I'll veg until I see sex on all of these. Maybe it would be better to keep them under the blue lights instead of stretching them with the hps since they won't flower until maturity anyway.

In no particular order.....

Here's Pat. S/He was the first up and fasterst grower of the lot.

This last one seems to be the most sensitive.

Looking good. I believe your plants could use some more N though. Also, where is the vertical flower setup? I'd love to have a look at how you build your vertical grow b/c I'm thinking about going that way in a few runs.

Peace,

It's no fun when you have to choose between burning leaf tips and yellowing leaves. Thanks for the suggestion; I've got it under control.

My flowering setup will be a lamp hanging from the ceiling by the cordset; no cooltube, no cage, maybe a fan blowing from the bottom.

4 Girls & 1 Boy

:jump:

The biggest girl is on her tenth node; took her 5 weeks to show and she's the stretchiest too. Loner.....or should I call him Stud, is the shortest. He had this crazy phoenix looking leaf early on. I'm going to let him have at my AK-47 and see what shakes loose.

I'm going to rearrange the flower-room tonight and get these ladies crackin'. Pics to follow.

The Vert Setup

The Vert Setup

Here it is; simple as can be. I gotta get a pair of sunglasses real soon.

44372Vert.jpg

In case any of you are wondering what that is on the side of the picture, it's my AK-47 topped, super-cropped, & poppin'. :canabis: There are 2, in 5 gallon bags; they ain't in coco, but they're so pretty. First time flowering with fluorescents. They're the only real action I got going on right now and they're not quite 2 weeks in.
