hot norcal outdoor questions

So i am doing outdoors for the first time. Where I live, it gets really hot, mostly around 90-100 degrees everyday. Will this stress my plants out? will they get used to it? I have been vegging indoors and im about to take out doors. There is alot of shade around but they will get about 5 hours of direct light everyday, although most of the direct light is in the hottest parts of the day. Do plats still get lumens if they are in the shade? thanks

you need to have 8 hours of direct sunlight. temps don't matter outdoors there's nothing you can do about it, you might can get away 5 hours but they won't be as big. Being in nor cal you can get away with about 20 outdoors even if the cops see them...

I thought that temps didnt really matter outdoors also but I read in jorge cervantes website that if the temp go above 95 degrees that plants virtually stop growing, he says to keep plants in the shade but I had heard plants needed at least 5 hours of direct light so I don know what to do. my plants are in 5 gallon buckets in coco fiber, and I had planned to move them around thruoghout the day so they got at least 6-8 hours of direct light. has anyone else had problems with areas that get around or above a 100 degrees?

if the plants are large and healthy a few hours of 100+ temps wont hurt. be careful with young plants and clones. i made the stupid choice to put a freshly rooted clone outside in 90+ temps. I went to check on them a few hours later and they look like two fat men tried to make a tree house between the branched. basically not pretty.

I made the same mistake and put them out freshly rooted in 90+ and they looked like crap a few hours later. I am used to growing indoors in cool temps so im going to have to adjust to many things i guess. I ended up getting 2-3 foot starter plants and think they should be fine, I still have them indoor but will put them out soon. I shouldnt have to worry about early flowering at this point huh?
thanks for the help!

early flowering can still occur in sensitive strains. look out for you indicas they may flower depending on what light schedule you had inside. you may want to slowly lower their lights on time indoors to acclimate them to it outdoors and you may want to put them out a few hours each day increasing as the days go on to get them use to the hot weather.

Actually, you do. The days started getting shorter on June 21, and depending on your latitude, the plants will likely start flowering in earnest around the first week of July--especially if you've had 'em on 18 hours indoors. But it also sounds like they're a decent size, so why not let 'em start flowering?

I don't know much about the photoperiods and early flowering but I do know that all my experience is outdoors around NorCal. I was worried when I also read Jorge's grow bible and it said that it stops growing at 95 deg but it hasn't affected me at all!

Just make sure you harden them off. How big are your girls? I'm guessing over 12". They're not going to be used to the strong nor cal winds so put them out slowly. 1 hour one day, 2 hours the next day, etc, etc. Other growers do it even slower than that but I haven't had any bad effects by doing it that way.

What strains are you working with? Last year I used Jack Herer, GDP, and Purple Urkel. All of which, I hear, were made for the NorCal climate. So a lot of it has to do with the strain and its origins. Anything bred for Mediterranean climates will do well in Cali.

This year I'm working with BCBD The Black outdoors and they're taking to the heat pretty well.

Thank you all for your help!
NPK- I do have them on 18/6 indoors right now, and Your right there about 2 feet tall i might as well let nature take its course. Although I do have a few that are still small clones so I figure I will veg those a bit longer inside. i am going to do what you said about 1 hour each day outside, and increase each day, thanks!

Jon -I also freaked when I read that from the bible, wich is wierd cause I had a freind growing indoors just recently for the first time and he saidhis temps about 90-95 with out co2 and he still pulled off a crop that looked nice for his first. I have green queen wich is a green crack cross, durban poison crossed with og kush, a few white widows, and a few ssh. i hope these are meant for outdoors and especially for norcal outdoors!man Im glad you replied cause i was starting to think I might be screwed with this outdoor heat!at least now I know others have no problems, i hope my strains can handle it. thanks!
