Howdy all!

I have been poking around here on IC for, oh, about a year? And since I'm about 1 week from harvest on my very first grow I figured I'd pop in here and say Hi! Must say that I am very impressed with how good you can actually grow with a 150W HPS. To be honest I have taken the easy route with a very ghetto set up, basicly just a closet (22"x22"), a 150W HPS backed up by 2x27W CFL's to even out the "footprint" and a 120mm coputerfan to exhaust the cab. Started out with 16 no brand Lowryder seeds, wich all germed within 36 hours. All 16 took off like crazy under the two cfl's and after around 3 weeks i ended up with 9 beautiful girls. One was planted outside surrounded by the males to ,hopefully, provide me with seeds.

The other 8 girlies have been thriving under the CFL's and the HPS, beeing fed with rainwater and your garden variety of supermarket fert. And with less than a week to go, they look great! Buds are fattening up and getting that lovely "sugarcoating".

Thank You!

Yup, I'll be posting some pics later this week. Although, it's almost embarrasing to show off my "Lowryder Ghetto Garage" (as I call it) since it look absolutely horrible. But then again, I've had more succes than I could ever dream of in that cab, so just to prove that you can get a desent harvest without investing tons of money in your grow...Yeah, I'll post it. :muahaha:

Well, I'm still in the process of reading through this thread, but I have to say, you guys look to be getting some great results with these 150s. I think I'll probably be going the 150 route myself once I get things situated. I got a question; what do you guys use for reflectors? I was thinking of using the reflector that comes with the security light itself since they're made for that size bulb, or is that not a good idea for some reason?

Because my cab is so small, I just have my bare bulb mounted perpendicular to the back wall of the cab without a reflector. I used to have a cooltube with a reflector, but took it out because I needed the head room.

I think that several people use the reflector that comes with their 150w....but some just modify it to suit their situation. I found that not using one seems to work as well as using one....but that's just my cabinet.

I usually use some when I flush at 1 cap full per gallon.

I am in trouble with my cab. I have 2-150hps and 4-55 (equ to 250w each) cfl. The cab is 24x36x72. I have room for 9 plants, which I started with. I have a 245cfm output fan with a 6" hose. I have a 6" passive input from my central air conditioning system. The plants just won't grow tall. They are really bushy, but for the last month they have stayed at the approx same height, from 4 to 7 inches. I have one small computer fan blowing up on each plant and another two larger computer fans blowing on the hps lights. I don't think I have enough air flow? Last week I added two more passive input tubes, one 4" and one 2.5". This did not seem to help. Two of the girls look really bad, with leaves just dying. Today I plan to add another input tube with a 185cfm fan blowing into the cab. This will give me an output of 245cfm and an input of 185cfm plus 3 passive input. Do you see a problem with this? It gets hot in Texas with the temp over the last couple of weeks being over 100 each day. My babies just can't take the heat.

Hyd Per (H2O2) is a great oxygenate, a foliage spray, and works well as a soak for seed popping.
But you will need to use it in about a 4-8once/gal ratio. And I'm talking about the 3% stuff you get at the drugstore.

Fafafooey - you'll find that almost no two reflectors are the same. Even those that folks buy, they modify so that the light output matches their growing footprint. I've seen home-builts made from everything from cut up soupcans, to mailboxes. Just be sure it has a decent reflective surface, and be prepaired to change it as needed. I for one, got mine dumpster-diving. It was a four-foot flourescent fixture that I cut down and built a mount for.

Pipedream, you seem to do a lot of dumpster-diving, good deal. What is on the walls of the pic?

exploziv_gbb, you right, my bad.
The strain is unknown. I got the clones from a grower that has been growing it for a while. It is really, really good.
If I can get the air flow right, it will be much better. I started with 9, down to 7, and 2 of those look really bad.

does anyone here use an odor sok? mine doesnt work so good. do they work for anyone?

Nope, never tried one. But from everything that I've read, and I've read a few things about them, they're kind of crap and they do not do an effective job. I would just pick up a real carbon filter, if you don't want to worry about any smell.

so this is my first hydro grow and the learning curve was steeper than I imaged. I am hesitant to post these pictures, but I think I have finally figured out the problem, ventilation. These all started at the same time from some fine clones. I had 9 plants 8 weeks ago and now have 5 left still in the vegging state

Dude, I hate to say it, but I'm thinkin' you got a bit more than a ventilation problem going on there. Those girls do not look happy.

Tell us about your system....what's flowing thru pipe? how deep is the nute bath? does it constantly flow? how much do the roots extend into the solution? nutes? air & bath temps? what do the bottom of those plastic cups look like? ph? were the clones rooted when you introduced them to the system? are you running a tft system or what?

Give us a bit of info, there's lots of fine folks on here ready and willing to help.
